If You Could Only Live In One Country, Which Would It Be?

Every year, websites all over the internet release lists of what they believed to be the best countries to live in the world. Here we’re going to take a look at some of the countries that regularly make it to the top of those lists. Let’s take a look.

Switzerland

Switzerland is famous for being neutral and independent. Perched high up in the Alps, it didn’t take sides, even in WW2. Now the country has something of a reputation for offering a great standard of living for the people who live there. The population of Switzerland is around 7.2 million. It has one of the most stable economies in the world, thanks mainly to a stable monetary policy. As a result, investors flock here, spending their money on new projects in the country.

Metropolitan life here is also safe, fun and clean. Major cities like Bern, Zurich, and Geneva has exceptionally low rates of crime. They’re also beautiful cities. For instance, Geneva runs along the giant Lac Leman, a lake that runs for miles out of the city.

Canada

Canada is considered to be one of the best places to live in the western world. This is because of its historically low rates of crime and the overall happiness of its citizens.

It seems as if many more people are looking to get a visa for Canada. Spending on tourism in the country is a good proxy for whether people want to move to the country. Spending has increased to more than $81 billion in the last year or so, demonstrating intent.

Health and longevity is good here too. On average Canadians live to 81 years of age. That’s more than four years longer than the average in the US. Canada also has a low unemployment rate, thanks to some rather clever trade policies and an economy based on services.

Ireland

Back in 2009, the future for Ireland looked bleak. Its banks had been ravaged by the global economic meltdown. And it was on the brink of bankruptcy. Not anymore. The economy here has been turned around considerably since the last decade. There are genuine opportunities to settle down and make a living here.

There’s also ample opportunity to explore the beautiful landscape. Ireland has vast areas of wilderness, thanks to its low population density. It also has many of the best golf courses in the world, if you’re interested in that type of thing. Finally, Ireland is a treasure trove for history buffs. The island is littered with castles and forts. In fact, Ireland boasts the greatest numbers of restored castles and forts anywhere in the world.

New Zealand

new-zealand-1182764__340

If you’re an animal lover, New Zealand is the place to be. Only 5 percent of the population here are people. The other 95 percent are herd animals, sold for export.

The main city of Auckland plays host to the Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is a little bit like the observatory in Toronto. Visitors can look out over the city of Auckland from a height of more than 1076 feet.

Technophobes Pay Attention!

Are you a person whose head is still in the 20th century? Do you not know your iPod from your iPad? Is a Blackberry for you only a fruit you can get from your local forest? Well you have a lot to learn but it’s nigh impossible. So get your swimming trunks on and get ready to dive into the future.

So you’re a technophobe. There’s no beating around the bush. You’ve been hibernating for the past few years and now’s the time to resurface. Trust me, you’ve missed out on a lot. As a business manager, it’s imperative that you quickly get with the times. There’s so much untapped potential out there that it’s going to make you weep. Social media, for example is now the best form of advertising and it’s completely free!! How much of your budget are you currently spending on publication? Hmm. Unfortunately the younger generation spends more time on looking at Facebook and Instagram than the broadsheets these days. That’s how it is. You’ve just got to live with it.

The best thing to do is get somebody to teach you. Maybe a relative or a family friend. It might be a bit unprofessional if you get taught by a work colleague. Imagine the arguments you may end up having! Plus do you really want the guys in the office knowing about your allergy to Apple?  It could loosen your respect a bit. If your old-fashioned attitude runs in the family genes, then why not look around for some it support in the office. Keep it on the downlow though. You don’t want that nosy girl from HR to know do you? With your recently acquired IT knowledge, you can surf the net where’s so much action straight at your fingertips. You don’t have to spy from the trees with your binoculars at other companies now. You don’t have to break into their warehouses and check out what they’re selling. There’ll be no glass against the wall during board meetings. Just a couple of clicks and all that info is yours. No, I’m not joking. It’s as easy as that. Look at what you’ve missed out on.

Word of mouth is an incredible marketing tool and to be fair, you do use it regularly. But nowadays, that’s not the be all and end all. Save your petrol. Spend less money at the service station. Rest your booming voice. Why not create a website that expresses all you wish to say on just one page? You know what makes a good stand out piece of work.  You’ve handwritten leaflets in the past promoting your business. Well it’s just like that, only with a mouse. A computerised one, if you’re unsure. Once you get your text down to a tee, how about including some of those pictures you took from that shiny new camera of yours? See. You’re not that much of a technophobe now are you? Welcome to reality old friend.

An Introduction To The Biggest Problems Facing Online Businesses Today

These days, a lot of businesses live on the internet. The rise of online business has been dramatic and seen lots of success stories. However, running an online company isn’t as easy as it seems. There are many problems in the way, and here are the main ones:

(Image from: http://bit.ly/1IDvTRQ)

Poor Search Engine Performance

As consumers, we look at search engines in an entirely different way to online businesses. We just use them to find websites and search for things. For an online business, it’s a ranking system that helps determine success. They want their web pages to rank highly for keywords relevant to their business. This boosts their chances of gaining traffic and converting it to customers. After all, how many of us actually scroll all the way down to the bottom of the search results page? I can guarantee the majority of you will never look at any results that are on the second page or further. We look for the first few results and usually click on those sites. So, poor search engine performance means an online business does badly in the rankings. They appear low down and don’t get as many customers as their rivals in better positions. To counter this, an online business should look at improving their SEO. You can do this on your own, or, hire an SEO agency to make life easier. Give your rankings a boost, and start seeing more success.

Website Crashes

For an online business, a website crash is equivalent to an office fire. It puts everything on hold, and nothing can get done until the fire is put out. When your website is down, no one can visit it. You’re missing out on so much potential traffic, and so many potential customers. Think of all the revenue you could lose during a website crash! It’s something every modern business wants to avoid, and there are steps to do so. Some people have considered getting things like a Network Failover to help avoid site crashes. Others employ a full-time IT support team to monitor their servers and keep everything up and running. It doesn’t matter what steps you take, just ensure you’re actually taking steps to prevent crashes.

Bad Conversion Rates

Web traffic is great for an online business. It means your business is seeing many visitors, and your site is performing well. However, traffic isn’t going to help your business be successful, customers are. So, the aim is converting your traffic into customers. If you have good conversion rates, then you’re going to convert a lot of your traffic into paying customers. A problem for many businesses is that they have bad conversion rates. No matter how much traffic you have, if your conversion is poor, it will be wasted. To improve your conversion rates, you need to study your web traffic and customers. See what makes people become customers, and implement it on your website. You could also employ an agency that deals with CRO for even better results.

Pay attention to these problems if you have an online business. Use my advice to ensure these issues don’t stop your company from being great.

Banish Back Pain Forever With These Genius Ideas

Back pain is a serious health problem for millions of people. It’s so common, and there are so many causes. With chronic back pain, you struggle to do so many things. Something as simple as sitting at a desk or standing up is now a tough task. If you do nothing about your back pain, it can lead to other health issues down the line.

So, figuring out how to tackle this pain is a big concern. In this piece, I have some ideas that can banish your back pain forever. Give them a try, and start leading a pain-free life!

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a great way to relieve yourself from muscle pains. Many people are put off by this as they don’t like the idea of being pricked with needles. But, it’s not a painful procedure, and can be extremely effective. Primarily, acupuncture pain management is meant for your lower back. This is where a lot of muscles can get tight and painful. If you have lower back pain, it’s likely you’ll have trouble standing up for long periods, and don’t enjoy sitting either. The needles used will help stimulate blood flow in a specific area. When the blood is flowing in your lower back, it warms up the muscles, causing them to relax. The result should leave you with nice and loose muscles that aren’t causing you pain. Combine this with a massage for the best effect.

Stretching & Strengthening

There are so many causes of back pain, it can be difficult to give proper stretching advice. For anyone with disc issues, stretching your back might not be the best answer. But, for muscle problems, stretching will help cure your pain. Stretching helps release tight muscles and bring balance to your body. A common stretch for lower back pain is to get into a lunge position and stretch your hip flexor. Tense your glutes and abs to tuck your pelvis under and get a better stretch. Stretching your hips is good as there’s a muscle called the psoas that attaches to your lower back. When this gets tight, it pulls on your lower back and makes those muscles tight too. Combine stretching with strengthening exercises as well. Strengthening your abdominals and glutes is great for healing lower back pain.

Address The Root Cause

Finally, the only way you’ll rid your back of pain is by addressing the cause of the pain. For many, back pain is caused by excessive sitting and poor posture. So, you have to ensure you set up your desk in an ergonomic fashion. Make your sitting position more posture-friendly, and stand up to take regular breaks. Similarly, if you have disk or nerve problems that cause the pain, you need to get these seen to. See a doctor and consider medical treatment for complex back pain problems.

There you have it folks, three ways you can banish back pain forever. Stop ignoring the pain and allowing your health to get worse and worse. Become pain-free and live a much healthier life.

5 Safety Guidelines For Beginner Motorcyclists

sunset-summer-motorcycle

Motorcycles – they’re a lot of fun, cheaper to run than a car, and super convenient. But, let’s not beat around the bush, here – they are also incredibly dangerous. The cold, hard facts are that you are 30 times more likely to die on a motorbike than you are in a car. And, when you are just starting out with your new hobby, those statistics go through the roof.

That said, with a little focus on safety, the vast majority of motorcyclists never experience an accident. And in today’s guide, I’m going to take you through some of the key points you need to know to stay safe. Read on to find out more.

Don’t drink or speed

Want to reduce the odds of having a bad motorcycle accident by a significant amount? Well, the onus is on you to avoid alcohol when riding and never, ever speed. Almost 50% of motorcycle accidents are caused by the rider speeding. And 4 from every 10 involve alcohol. So, by keeping yourself in check, you will have a much better chance of survival – your fate is in your own hands in the vast majority of cases.

Too hot to handle?

There are 50-cc bikes, superbikes, and everything in between. It’s a lot of choices, but which is the right option? Many motorcyclists are obsessed with power, to the extent they can often choose bikes that are simply too much for them. Try and be sensible, and be aware that even small engines can offer an awful lot of power., As a rule, never buy a bike that feels too heavy for you. And, if you aren’t planning on traveling on the highways, there is little point buying anything over 500-750-cc.

Suit up

Don’t underestimate how important it is to wear the right gear. In the event you have a crash, it can be the difference between survival and an untimely end. I’d like to think you are sensible enough to wear a helmet at all times, of course. But you should also invest in the correct clothing and footwear. While jeans and a t-shirt might be more comfortable, it’s a recipe for more pain than they are worth if you crash. Biking boots are essential, too. According to the reviews featured at Bikers Basics, there are some vital things to consider. Waterproofing, flexibility, and armor protection can all make the difference.

Take the MSF

There are plenty of courses you can take to learn how to ride your bike in a safe manner. Look around your local area for your nearest Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course. It will give you the basics you need to stay safe on the road, and will also teach you some advanced techniques. Not only will it keep you safe, but it might also lower your insurance premiums.

Ride defensively

Finally, when you are out on the road, always assume the worst. No matter how confident you are, it’s not always you that will be the problem. Drivers may not see you or make stupid decisions, and if you are taking risks, disaster is more likely. Always ride defensively, and avoid tailgating and risk taking.

I hope these tips help you to stay safe on the roads!

The Four P’s Of Running A Successful Business

No two entrepreneurs are identical, but it’s safe to assume that every business owner wants to become a success. This can feel like an extremely difficult challenge, yet the fundamentals can be easier than you’d ever imagine.

Essentially, it all boils down to having your priorities in order. And it’s another four P words that will allow you to do just that. Keep them at the forefront of your thinking at all times, and you will be destined for far greater outcomes.

What are you waiting for? Let’s get started.

Preparation

Planning and preparation are everything in business. After all, how can you ever expect to reach your dream destination without mapping out the journey?

There’s nothing wrong with deviating from the pathway. Nonetheless, organizing yourself as well as the workplace is essential. Failure to do this will result in time being wasted, which will ultimately cost you money in the long run.

Greater preparation will allow you to make more calculated decisions. Moreover, it’ll let you spot problematic issues far sooner too. If that added sense of control doesn’t put you on a smoother journey to the top, what will?

Personality

branding

Image:

There’s no denying that products should be the heartbeat of your operation. From the customer’s perspective, though, the identity of the company they are buying from is just as crucial. People trade with people. If your company can show itself in a positive light, it’ll be far more likely to succeed.

Branding is a vital element, and it’s important that you use the right materials to spread the word effectively. You can discover more options regarding banners and marketing tools at eventdisplay.com.au.

Perhaps more importantly, though, your character needs to shine through. With this in mind, regular interaction with clients is essential. Whether in person or through social media, those gestures will make a massive impact.

Productivity

Building the right image for your business will count for very little if the workflow is lacking. Unfortunately, there’s only so much that you can achieve with one pair of hands. Therefore, acquiring the best team possible is one of your greatest responsibilities.

When hiring employees, it’s important to look for successful character traits as well as skills. Meanwhile, it’s vital that you continue to invest in their development. Not only will this increase the overall quality and speed of output. It should additionally work wonders for motivation.

Just remember to invest in great communication too. This will lead to far greater efficiency.

Profit

profit

Image:

The most important word for any business is profit. If the company isn’t making money, it is slowly heading towards a dead end. As such, every decision you make should keep this in mind.

Turning a profit isn’t simply about the revenue. The easiest way to increase your figures is to lower expenses. Do this without sacrificing the output, and your business will immediately become stronger. Whether this is through cheaper insurance, office space, or web hosting isn’t important. Every saving is a bonus, and you can start by reading this guide at news.com.au.

Upgrading your sales totals with special offers and deals that encourage greater loyalty will have a telling impact too. It’s a simple formula; get it right, and the results will be amazing.

From Here To There: Why Logistics Is Crucial To The Success Of Your Business

Good business is all about flow. You need to nail down a smooth workflow process that sees productivity maintaining a set level. Your cash flow needs to ever be improving. So it’s only natural that your material goods need to have a certain flow to them as well. Make no mistake, losing track of your inventory, supply and deliver leads to disaster. Below, we’re going to look at how you nail down all three elements of your business logistics.

factory-722863_960_720

Your supply chain

Ensuring a smooth flow of inventory into your business is where you need to start. Your supply chain is what ensures the future of your business. You lose track of it, you lose your ability to do business. So, find out not only more about your suppliers. Find out who supplies them. Learn the risks to their own supply chain. That way you can pre-emptively prepare for any problems they might face. The same goes for anyone involved in the manufacturing side of the business, too. Businesses like Hastings Machine Company can help you by outsourcing aspects of your manufacturing. That means you have less on your plate to deal with, yourself.

belgium-1601918_960_720

Protecting your assets

When you have your inventory in your possession, that’s when you should be most worried about its security. Loss is a serious problem that can eat up the profits of any business. An electronic inventory system can help you by tracking each individual item. Meaning you can pinpoint who had access at the time that anything goes missing. At the same time, you should look into how you secure any premises where you keep inventory. CCTV can help you not only monitor the premises but also help you deter any potential thieves. You should consider investing in heavy-duty doors and reinforced windows for any storage you use for the business, too. Businesses are always a target for crime, so you need to make it clear that yours isn’t vulnerable.

truck-331499_960_720

Link to Image

Faultless delivery

We’ve looked at how you improve stock coming in and how you keep it. Now we look at how you have it going out, too. If you run a delivery system, there are a few ways you can consider improving it. For instance, if you have your own delivery vehicles and drivers, you can track their progress with GPS devices. This way, you can look at their efficiency and how they manage delivery times. If your delivery grows more demanding, you might also want to consider outsourcing to a fulfilment company. This means a lot of the responsibility passes from your hands, but it also means you have less control. Still, if you don’t have the means to effectively deliver and protect your stock, it can tide you over until you do.

Know your suppliers inside and out so you know you can trust them. Keep a close eye on your inventory right down to the last item. Look at expanding and measuring how you deliver to your customers to make sure everything goes to its right place. These are the keys to successful logistics in a business.

Look More Professional (Without Resorting to Business Suits)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Free Stock Photos

I’m not a fan of suits. Sure, they look kinda cool. But using them to make your business look more professional? It’s lazy. Suits are becoming less and less popular in modern businesses, and for good reason.

Don’t weep for the death of the business suit. There are plenty of other ways for you to look more professional.

Improve that website

A shocking amount of business websites look like they were created in the early 2000s and haven’t been updated since. And many of the ones that look modern look like they were set up in just a few seconds using free website creation tools. Your website needs to look stunning and unique. This will help you look more professional.

template-1599665_960_720

Don’t mix personal and business

People say you should do this. It’s becoming more acceptable in the age of smartphones and social media. They say it helps bring personality to your business. But let’s face it: it’s difficult to control what happens in either our business or our private life. You don’t want some unexpected (or embarrassing!) event in one to damage the prestige of the other. So do your best to keep the two separate.

Let the world know you’re real people

Yes, I did just say that you shouldn’t mix personal and business as much as some may suggest. But you should still be able to let people know who you are, especially if you’re the one running the business. Your website should feature photos or even small bios of you and your team. You may think this makes you look like you’re treating the site as you would social media. What you’re actually doing is demonstrating that you’re proud to have your faces associated with the business.

4065538315_7da43691d0_m

Flickr

Look into uniforms or name tags

I am trying to stay away from the “suit” suggestion. But some jobs certainly do function better when uniforms are in place. Let’s say you’ve got a restaurant or a brick-and-mortar retail business. Uniforms simply make it easier for customers to identify who works here and who doesn’t! If you don’t want to use uniforms, you could always look into corporate name tags. These work great with uniforms, but if you want employees to wear their own clothes, then name tags can do the trick.

Get an office…

Offices can be pretty overrated. And it’s true that you don’t need an office to run a successful business. Teleworking has made success outside of the office pretty feasible, after all! But let’s say you have a lot of employees. Or that you need to meet and impress clients quite often. In this case, you should probably look into getting an office. You don’t have to move all of your employees into it. But having a main hub of operations definitely makes you seem more professional.

26138096884_5083092dd3_n

Flickr

…and keep it neat

Of course, offices can look pretty darn unprofessional if you’re not careful. Yes, it’s true that a bit of clutter makes it look like you’re hard workers. I’m not saying your office needs to be spick and span. But it does need to look neat. It shouldn’t look like utter chaos. Besides, an office that’s too messy can pose a safety risk!

Keeping Your Business Cultured

11123538363_07bb05134a_n

Having a well-cultured workplace doesn’t mean that you have a vastly diverse pool of staff. It means that you and your staff are well-connected and understand each other. Your staff is happy, and they respect your authority.

Building up a relationship like this with your staff can be hard. So, it’s best if you begin building these bridges from the moment you meet them. This post will go through some of the ways that you can build your company into a cultured business.

  • Assessments

Your staff will struggle to understand how well they are doing, without being assessed. Assessments should be done on a regular basis and should be aimed at developing your staff’s skillsets and work ethic. This will allow you to let your employees know when they are falling short. But, it will also give you an excellent opportunity to tell them where they’re doing well. Without their weak spots being the focus, you can make even a negative assessment leave the employee feeling confident. This is one of the key steps in building a culturized company.

  • Rewards

When your staff perform well or go out of their way to help, they should be treated as such. It’s best to give rewards out in groups so that people don’t feel unappreciated. Taking your employees out for a meal or a few drinks is a great way to say thank you. Rewarding your staff like this will make them feel as though you really care about them. This will build rapport and give you an excellent chance to get to know your staff, outside of work.

  • Disciplinary Action

Unlike rewards, disciplinary action should be taken against individuals only. It will hurt moral if you punish a whole group for one person’s mistake. Instead, take people aside in private, and deal with them in a personal manner.

When it comes to the severity of your discipline, you have to be reasonable. If you go over the top over something small, it will scare your other staff members. But, if you are too relaxed about something larger, your staff will start to walk all over you. It’s important to put policies in place to account for this so that you know how to act in any given situation.

  • What Will You Gain?

By taking steps like these, you’ll gain the trust and respect of your employees. The benefits of this can be astonishing. Your staff will work harder, and they will listen to you more. It will make it easier to roll out changes to your company, and even give your employees bad news. Ultimately, you and your staff will all be happier.

Hopefully, this will inspire you to start working on your company’s culture. These methods will make your company look better from the outside, and they could even boost your revenue. Do some research yourself, and decide what you want to do for your company. Every business is different, after all. And your staff will need different treatment.

Identity Theft: Prevention Techniques For Businesses

It seems like the world of business is constantly being attacked with identity theft issues. How often do we see the story of a company-wide hack in the news? How often are we told to change our passwords because gigantic companies have put our data in disarray? Unfortunately, security is becoming even harder to guarantee in today’s digital world. Identity theft can cause a business to shut down for good, so you need to do everything in your power to prevent it.

Let’s take a look at a few prevention techniques.

identity-theft

Link 1 (NY – http://nyphotographic.com/)

Ultra-Secure Passwords

For years, we’ve been told over and over about the need for secure passwords. Some of us take it seriously, while others brush it off as needless worry. Those who fall into the former category are doing the right thing. Hackers will try to break your passwords, and they’ll have an easy time if it’s a simple one. Plenty of tools are their disposal in the process, so breaking a short and simple code can be done in minutes. Always protect your passwords thoroughly.

Document Protection

As a business, you’re often required to store confidential data about your customers. Unfortunately, every bit of data you collect puts your business at greater risk. If you were to lose those documents, important data could get into the wrong hands. In addition to protecting it thoroughly, you need to think about how you store that data. Once it’s no longer valid, equipment like Intimus shredders can help to destroy it for good.

computer-767784_960_720

Link 2

Put Policies In Place

The reason why many instances of identity theft are caused by the policies of a business. We’ve heard of documents being left on trains and insiders leaking information in famous instances. Ultimately, with efficient business policies, this sort of thing shouldn’t happen. So, make sure your employees understand the rules surrounding data protection. Only provide access to those who are both trustworthy and need access for their roles.

Use Encryption

There are some business owners out there who believe that encryption is an unnecessary concern. Again, that’s a myth that should be resigned to the past. Digital safety is getting harder and harder to achieve all the time, so we need to go the extra mile. Encrypting our passwords and business transactions can prevent a catastrophic incident. Even if the criminal still gets access to the data, it’ll hopefully prevent them from using it.

castle-1086898_960_720

Keep Your IT Systems Up To Date

It’s an obvious point, but keeping your IT systems up to date is a must-mention topic. Not only should you be thinking about antivirus and firewalls, but OS updates as well. Your internal IT use policy should be in place to protect the business from criminal activity online. If you’re unsure about how to go about this, bring in the experts from outside the company. Get them to do an audit of your systems, and they’ll quickly identify any issues to be concerned about.

We’re about to hit 2017, and there has never been a more important time to think about identity theft. It’s becoming more prominent, so we need to protect our businesses as best we can.
