Aspire To Be Successful, Despite Your Obstacles And Worries

We all have aspirations in life, things we dream of doing or being. They can be small purposes or they can be wishes that require years of work. Following your dreams may not be easy, but it is worth the journey because this is how your life makes sense. Sometimes finances get in the way or unexpected problems. So how can you balance it all out?

Photo: Unsplash

Define a purpose that will lead you to success.

How can you know if you are on the right track if you don’t have an exact destination?

Success represents something different for each person. To be successful, you need to have clearly defined what success means in your particular case. Real success comes from achieving goals that are meaningful to you, and that help you achieve fulfilment and happiness. Try to write your definition of success, be it getting a job doing a particular activity that you enjoy, living in an area of your city that you like a lot, having the possibility of travelling, or starting a happy family, among many other alternatives.

Ask yourself: What is it that makes you happiest in life? Do you want to spend time with your family, travel, play sports, practice a hobby? What would you do if money was not a concern? Then consider what the next step you need to take to get a little closer to that goal is. Create a long-term vision. Having a long-term vision can help you further refine your purpose. Where do you want to be in 5, 10 and 20 years? What can you do today to start the path that brings you closer to that dream? Imagine your ideal life. Close your eyes, visualize yourself and express your future in writing. Try asking yourself questions like:

  1. What career or job are you doing?
  2. Where do you live?
  3. Who is with you?
  4. How do you look
  5. What are you wearing?
  6. How do you feel?

You can even try writing down your perfect day, from start to finish, starting with the time you get up and each of the tasks you do.

Learn from failure and obstacles.

You are likely to run into some obstacles or failures in the process of achieving your dreams. But you don’t have to let any setback derail your plans. You have to learn to see failures as life lessons and deal with them constructively. A failure does not close all doors. You can close some, but others are still open. Maybe your plan to become an opera singer failed, but that doesn’t mean that a music career is out of your league. Perhaps you have the necessary preparation to sing in a choir, or perhaps you can use your musical skills to become a singing teacher. You should be aware that your failures may be monetary. If you have had any type of accident or issue at work or anywhere, you may need to look at hiring help. You may need to ask yourself when you need a car accident lawyer? This may seem like an obstacle, but you can overcome it. Don’t let any obstacle hold you back from creating the dream life that you desire.

When Working from Home Becomes Permanent: Creating a Proper Setup

Image from Pixabay – CC0 License

Many of us have found ourselves working at home through no choice of our own this year. Although a lot of people dream of working from home, it hasn’t happened in the most ideal conditions. A lot of people have found themselves trying to juggle work and childcare (or pets demanding attention) and have had to create a makeshift home office. But now that it looks like many could be working from home for longer than expected, and some could be even making it a permanent move, it could be time to put some more solid resources in place.

Create a Proper Workspace

Not everyone has a spare room that they can use as a home office. Maybe you’ve been making do with your dining room table or a small desk shoved wherever you have the space. But if you’re going to be working from home indefinitely, it makes sense to have somewhere more suitable to work. There are a few things you could do to make this possible. You could look at portable buildings if you have land but no indoor space. A portable building also gets you out of the house, which helps to separate home and work. You could section off part of a larger room or repurpose a room that’s currently (under)used for something else.

Improve Your Internet Connection

Another thing that you might have been struggling with at home is your internet connection. You choose your internet package based on what you use at home, but that’s obviously increased now that you’re also working from home. If your broadband has been sluggish and struggling with Zoom calls and other work, you might need to upgrade your service. It could be time to switch to fiber broadband or just to look for a package that offers you more bandwidth. There are also other options that have come up recently, such as new service providers such as starlink internet. These new providers offer an array of new features and may be able to serve areas that are currently underserved with internet service.

Re-evaluate What Equipment You Need

Perhaps up until now, you’ve been working from your laptop. However, it could be that a desktop computer might be more suitable for what you’re doing. You might need more power or multiple screens, for example. There could be other equipment that you’ve been getting by without too, but it would be better if you had access to all of the tools that help you do your work. It might be time to make sure you have a good printer or even ensure you have a more comfortable desk chair.

Set Clear Boundaries

Hopefully, you’ve managed to develop some clear boundaries while you’ve been working from home. This should include your expectations for yourself and anyone else who might be in the house. If you haven’t done this yet, it’s time to do it now. For example, make sure everyone else knows not to disturb you when you’re working (unless it’s an emergency). Give yourself some clear rules for when you can take a break, when to start and stop working, and maintaining the right working conditions.

If working from home is going to become a permanent arrangement, make sure you have a permanent space to work from that has all that you need.

Why An Autumn Cleaning Is Good For Your Home

The soul of your home isn’t to be found in any room, it’s in you and how you treat it. The thing is, there are many ways we can treat our homes. We can redecorate, we can improve our appliances and most of all, we can clean them from top to bottom. It’s quite popular to clean our homes, every inch, during spring. It’s spring cleaning that we look forward to each year because we get to declutter our home and declutter our minds. But cleaning in the fall is also important yet it hardly ever gets a mention in magazines that focus on household tips and style.

Greeny window sills

During this time of year you will find that you have green window sills. No you’re eyes are not due for s checkup. Rather, the green is mildew and sometimes other bacteria are trying to grow on your window sill. This is usually due to standing liquid, such as rain or the build-up of condensation water. You can easily wash your window sills with household bleach, but this might take away form of the color if you have painted window sills. Using lemon and vinegar is a much better solution. The key is to allow the mixture to sit for about 5 minutes or so. Then you can easily wipe away the mildew.

Cleaning the patio

The build up of grit and muck at your patio is something that is normal during the fall. It’s because the heavy rain season is drawing to a close, and the loose soil and bits of stone in the soil are being thrown up by the falling water. It can mix and turn into a sort of sludge or slime. Even if you think you can’t see anything like this, the color of your patio has darkened. So in effect, you have a dirty skin or top layer that sits on your paved or concrete patio. You can clean this using patio cleaner products, which are not going to damage your stone floor or discolor it in any way.

pixabay

Dirty hardwood floors

The fall brings new challenges with it, and your hardwood floors often feel the brunt of them. Your wet muddy dirty shoes are going to stain the floor if you’re not careful. But just how many times can you mop the floor? How many times can you bend down to wipe it clean? Instead you can use a great floor scrubber which will cleanse the floorboards deeper and more efficiently. These types of scrubbers are portable and can be used weekly if you wish. They won’t damage your floor as many scrubbers tend to do.

Cleaning your home in the fall makes sense because you don’t want wet muddy floors to become the norm, nor do you want to have mildew window sills that depreciate the curb appeal of your house. The patio presents a different challenge but it’s probably where you should start first because you can afford to make mistakes here.

Digital Marketing Methods That Will Expand Your Reach Beyond Your Grasp

https://unsplash.com/photos/SYTO3xs06fU

In the world of business, you need to make sure people are seeing your work. The effort you put into the job itself matters, but a huge portion of your effort needs to be the outreach. You need to ensure that you’ve done all you can to advertise your work to potential leads and customers. There’s no point in delegating effort and work to certain areas if you’re not going to reap the rewards at the end of it, of course.

In the modern world, digital marketing is key. We’ve dealt with the likes of automation in terms of machinery and manufacturing over the years, but now it needs to be used with regard to computer systems and work across the web. Marketing using only older methods will not work anymore as people are all online in this day and age. The good thing about digital marketing is that it’s all pretty straightforward in terms how to do it – it’s just a case of being unique, finding gaps, and using creativity in order to actually stand out. Here are five methods you can use to expand your reach:

Social Media

The majority of people on this planet now have social media or have heard of it. The thing about social media is that, even if someone only uses it a little, they’ll still remember enough significant information. So, if you can get your message across on a social platform, then it will manage to make its mark. The likes of Twitter, Facebook and Instagram have all been good in the past, but the likes of Tiktok and LinkedIn are your best bet these days if you want to reach your audience.

Affiliate Marketing

Getting bloggers and writers to talk about your product, service, or website will allow you to get the exposure you need. Affiliate schemes work like this: they write about you and put a link in the post/article. Whenever a customer then buys something using that link, the writer receives a small commission. Everyone wins as the writer makes money, and you get more exposure.

SEO Techniques

Making sure you have a website that is fully optimized in terms of Search Engine Optimization is pretty important whether you’re looking to create a business or boost a personal project. You can get SEO help from the likes of https://rsmconnect.com/outsource-seo-services/ – they’ll be able to rank your site higher up on internet searches while teaching you about other techniques that can enhance your score on Google.

Video Content

People will always be attracted to video content as it’s easy to consume. People are always attracted to the quick cuts, too, as the dopamine derived from it is pretty addicted. You’ll need a balance when it comes to images, words, and videos, but video content will boost your profile hugely. You’ll attract more people, and you’ll score pretty high in terms of your website’s organic rank.

Email Marketing

When you get people hooked on you a little, it’s your job to make yourself more even attractive to them so that they stick with you and tell others about what you’re doing. Email marketing is a great way of keeping people on side. Simply sending out emails to those who have signed up or subscribed has the power to get leads more than attached as they feel as though they’re being taken care of personally.

What To Do When You Think You Can’t Invest

Money is something we all have a big problem with, but for some of us, there are some clearer red flag issues we have to deal with. And for the purposes of this post, we’re going to focus on the crowd that wants to learn how to invest, in order to boost their bank account, but believe there are many obstacles in their way to doing so.

But now’s your chance to learn a little more about the investing world, and your part in it. Because even when you have scant savings, you can turn to investments to make some more money. And here’s how:

Pexels Image – CC0 Licence

Get Online

The first thing to do, when you feel trapped in your investment chances, is to get online. The internet has revolutionised the way the money world works, and in particular, it’s changed how you get to invest, and how you get to work with a broker.

With the online portal to make good use of, minimum balances that you would need in the past are simply that – a thing of the past! You don’t need to deposit upwards of a thousand or even a hundred thousand to get trading anymore. This is simply because there’s better, more flexible communication, and a lot more benefits to reap via this new medium.

Look for Alternate Account Types

Just because one trading account isn’t right doesn’t mean they’re all bad. There are plenty of alternate trading accounts out there, and finding the right one for you just takes a little bit of digging.

For example, if your religious beliefs stop you from being able to earn or pay interest on the values you’re trading, there are some great Islamic forex broker services for you to rely on. Similarly, you may not know about  a ‘margin account’, which is where you borrow money to buy stocks and shares. However, stock falling below the ‘maintenance amount’ could force you to sell off early. Really, all you need to do is a bit of research here!

Invest with Pennies

And finally, as we touched on above, you really can invest with just pennies. Some brokers out there allow you to open an account with a simple single cent, and build from there. This would net you about 0.001% of a company, but you would still own a little bit of that company, and watch as your money increases in value through it.

Indeed, some brokers are going to ask for more than a single cent, but if you can also afford round about $5, you’re also going to be in luck. Simply put, as long as the cash is in the bank, and you’re not struggling to pay for anything in your day to day life, you won’t need to worry about the amount you’ll have to raise to start investing.

If there ever comes a moment when you’re not sure about your investment chances, all you need to do is look it up!

The Best Flooring Options When You Have Kids Running Around

With kids, every day is a struggle. Sometimes, it is a good kind of struggle like when you watch them take their first steps or mumble their first word. Most of the time, especially with toddlers and young kids, you have to run after their muddy shoes, wiping and cleaning the floors as they run around the house. And then, of course, there’s the matter of safety, too. Kids are always bumping and falling. You want the floors to be the safest as they can be. If only there is a way to walk on foam, huh?

If you’re thinking about redoing your floors, there are a couple of things you must consider. The first one is you may want to live with your old floor now, especially if it’s a hardwood floor. Your kids are going to scratch the surface of the floor until they’re able to understand that they have to take care of such things, too. The second one is you can replace your floors now for a more kid-friendly option.

Floating Floors

Floating wood floors work well for temporary flooring. This means that the homeowners have plans of replacing these in the future such as when the kids are all grown up. Floating wood floors are made of many layers of hardwood meshed together. They offer excellent strength, durability, and practicality. These types of floors can withstand high humidity levels, so they won’t swell or expand.

The most common type of wood flooring that can float is engineered hardwood flooring. Plastic laminate, linoleum, and vinyl tiles are also good alternatives. Floating floors mean they are not fastened and glued to the subfloor concrete. This makes it easier for homeowners and contractors to remove or rearrange them in the future. This is a great option for families with young kids because there are no fumes that usually come from wood glue.

Wood Floors

Wood tends to be softer for falls and bumps compared to porcelain tiles, which feel almost like concrete. However, solid wood is susceptible to scuffs, scratches, dents, sunlight, and spills, so you may want to think twice before installing solid wood for your kids’ rooms. For high-traffic areas in your house, you can use engineered wood or vinyl. They are durable and look easy on the eyes.

Vinyl Floors

Perhaps, one of the safest choices for kids these days is vinyl flooring. It provides more traction because of its texture, which means that the kids will less likely slip on the floor. Vinyl tiles also emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can cause respiratory illnesses, headaches, and dizziness. However, some groups are advising against vinyl flooring because of its lead and phthalate risks. Young children should not be exposed to these risks.

Carpet Floors

If you want to ensure that your kids are not going to hit their heads on the hard surface flooring, you can opt for wall-to-wall carpeting. It’s soft under the feet and can absorb falls and prevent slips. Aside from providing the cushioning that your kids need, carpets are also a natural insulator that can keep the floor warm during cold winter months.

With carpet floors, you have to deal with the maintenance. You may want to choose a light color for your carpets so you can see any spills on them and clean them immediately. While carpets require a lot of maintenance, they may be the safest choice when you have kids in the house. At the very least, your kids’ bedrooms should be fitted with carpet. You can check out carpet tiles as these are the more affordable option than wall-to-wall carpeting.

Cork Flooring

If you want a soft floor but none of the hassles of maintaining carpets, you can go for cork flooring. It is soft beneath your feet and has antimicrobial properties that prevent the growth of mold. That makes it safe for kids with allergies. It is also safe against spills as cork doesn’t easily stain. This makes this material very easy to maintain.

However, although cork looks like hardwood, it is easy to damage and scratch. Toys, strollers, and other things can easily scratch its surface and rip the material. If this is going to be your flooring of choice, you have to be cautious of how your kids play around the house. Also, it might be a better option for crawling babies and not active toddlers.

You can rest easy if you know your house has kid-friendly materials, furniture, and devices. Your kids are not going to be this little forever. Enjoy their muddy shoes, cluttered playrooms, and toys strewn around the house because you’re going to miss these when they’re teens who only want to hang out with their friends.

Get These 9 Things Done Now To Prepare For Winter

Winter is well and truly on the way, and preparing for it is a must if you want to remain comfortable throughout the season. Preparation is key for success in any walk of life, but you want to make sure that you are ready for the colder months. No one wants to feel as if they can’t get warm again, and there is only so much that you can do to get yourself ready for the colder weather but we have every suggestion you need below!

It’s going to take some time but luckily, you are in good hands at the right time of the year! We’re on the brink of it and in the midst of all the pandemic panic, you can get yourself prepared. You have the time right now, and so let’s take a look at what you can do to make yourself comfortable.

  1. Get Your Home Ready Slowly

It takes time to get a house warm for the winter months. You may want to crank up the heating and sit in the warmth, but it’s not the way to get your home ready for those temperatures outside the house. You need to consider the pipes and the outdoor faucets, as they can crack if they’re not adequately prepared. The house has to be ready for the cold and that means keeping your thermostat gradually warmer each day until it’s in the right bracket for the colder winds. Allowing your body to adjust is as important as allowing the house to do so, too. You can also seal up the windows properly and prevent any winds streaming through.

  1. Update Your Tow Numbers

If you are used to calling in tow companies for the snow, consider checking all of the numbers that you have so that you have a company that can take on any car, truck or even semis in the road! You want to make sure that you don’t get stuck in the snow, so your car needs to be loaded with these phone numbers of the right people to help if you do get caught!

  1. Sort Your Pest Control

During the summer, mice, rats and other pests can take refuge in your attic and basement. In the winter, you want to get rid of these pests once and for all. It’s so tempting for creepy crawlies to get into the house and get comfortable, but you can use the time now to get your pest control sorted out. From rodent traps to the sprays and powders for ants and other bugs. Prevention is better than cure and you need to take preventative measures as early in the season as possible.

  1. Upgrade Your Hardware

Outdoor hardware needs to be upgraded for your house for the winter. You wouldn’t have the right essentials indoors: milk and bread, blankets and torches, matches and more – without the outdoor hardware. You need to make sure that you have sidewalk salt, snowblowers, rakes and shovels for snow, de-icing equipment and more. You want to be able to tackle the frost and ice properly and you can do that with the right outdoor equipment!

  1. Call In The Chimney Sweeps

Do you have an old-fashioned chimney in your home? You need to call in the experts to clean the flue and get rid of any obstructions. When you do this, you can avoid any carbon monoxide poisoning risks. While you’re there, you should check the fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, too. These will alert you to any issues that may occur and keep you and your family as safe as possible.

  1. Don’t Freeze The Pipes

You read earlier that you should prepare the pipes for the winter months, and you absolutely should. Burst pipes that are explosive due to frozen water through them and the last thing you need is to have to pay for a plumber to fix it all when they bust. Instead, prevention is another step to take here and your pipes will be better if you call in a plumber before the season begins. You should also check your sprinkler systems and your hoses to know if there is any risk of them bursting, too.

  1. Get The Car Ready

You’re going to be on the road in the winter, too, and that means that you need to get the car as ready as you would your house. Top off the tank, check the fluid lines, deice the windows and pretreat the locks so that they don’t get stuck. It could be the difference between life and death if you don’t get your car winter ready, so make sure that you fulfil everything that you can do for your car in the winter, including winterizing the tyres and making sure that they have the right tread and depth. While you wait for a tow out of the snow, you can enjoy your emergency bag you kept in the trunk of the car, which should include snacks!

  1. Prepare Your Mind

SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder – is a very real thing and you want to prepare your mind for a bout of depression and hope to keep it at bay. Winter is notorious for sickness and illness, and if you have the flu shot, you can help your body to feel well. Winter requires prevention and your body is as much in need of it as anything in the house. You can limit your time spent indoors and try to get into the sun as much as possible. You have to plan and prepare yourself for the colder months, and that involves you, too!

  1. Batten Down The Hatches

Get the screen doors and window screens updated where possible so that you are going to be protected from the strong winds and rain. You want to ensure that your house is a castle for the winter weather to bypass, not destroy! These nine things will get you ready for winter – what else can you do to make life easy?

Why It’s Time To Embrace Automation

Robot, 3D, Print, Wallpaper, Ai, Machine

In the past automation has been praised for making people’s lives easier, but at the same time, it has been criticised for taking people’s jobs. However, since the coronavirus outbreak, automation is something that has been implemented for many businesses as adopting this technology has been the only way some businesses have been able to keep going and for people to feel safe. If you want your business to survive this difficult time and you also want to stay ahead of the competition, then it’s time to embrace automation in your business.

Automation Improves Organisation

Automation doesn’t just mean robots and self-scanning, but it can also help you to organise your business to help manage your files, do your accounts, delegate tasks and generally reduce errors and increase efficiency in your business. Tools such as Slack can help you sort through your overflowing email inbox and can streamline communication between team members. It is a powerful automation tool that many businesses are using as an alternative to traditional email as conversations are threaded like a chat window and visible by other people in your organisation.

Automation Increases Accountability

Whether its AGV automation in manufacturing or using social media scheduling tools in marketing, automation means that there is a digital trail for everything that goes on within the company. It means that things are very rarely lost or misplaced, and there is increased accountability for everyone across all the different systems.

Automation Saves Time

Many of the things that take up the most time in your company are the ones that are easy to do and don’t require much skill but still have to be done and are incredibly time-consuming. Think about those filing tasks or those jobs like putting all your business card contacts’ details on a spreadsheet. Menial jobs like these are essential, yet they take you or your employees away from doing the things that they are good at and are best used for. You can save so much time on manual, repeatable tasks by implementing automation tools within your company.

Automation Will Get You More Sales

Whether it’s sending automatic personalised emails to your customers or targeting your customers with other products that you think they might like, there are a number of ways to use automation to increase sales, so why wouldn’t you use them? Using tools such as Salesforce which can enhance your digital presence and marketing campaigns as well as integrates with hundreds of third-party business apps.
Automation tools come in a variety of options and for all areas of business, so while you don’t have to use them all, it would be a good idea to have a look at them all and see which would be the most beneficial to your business, to your customers, to your employees and to you. Do your customers need an automatic email to feel acknowledged? Do your employees need you to implement automatic emails to free up some of their time? Or do you need a tool to sort through your cluttered inbox and to feel less stressed and to have more time to focus on what is important? Whatever it is, there is a tool for you, and it will make your life far easier and your business more successful.

Feeling Lethargic? 5 Ways to Beat Fatigue

Originally posted on iveeapp.com by Louis Cinquanto | Oct 21, 2020 |

Feeling physically empty and depleted is something everyone experiences throughout their life. There isn’t one set trigger for feeling this way, but it becomes more common as we age. Feeling lethargic can be caused by physical and mental stress. Maybe you’re responsible for a big task at work, and the anxiety of it all gets a bit too much to handle. It doesn’t help that as we age, we begin to neglect self-care as well. There is so much going on around us that we forget the importance of keeping ourselves afloat. All of this can have a definite impact on the way we live our lives. So how do we beat this feeling?

Man Running on Side of Road

Increase your activity

Staying stagnant and doing nothing can severely affect the way our body processes energy. Keeping our brain stimulated is vital for getting rid of excess energy and stress associated with daily life. If we have a day cooped up inside the house, there is no outlet for our bodies to get rid of excess energy or deal with stress. So go outside, go for a run, fix your bike’s flat tire, and take it riding. Just get out of the house. At least an hour of sunlight can have a positive effect on our energy levels.

Four Trays of Varieties of Fruits

Be mindful of what you eat and drink

What we consume has an immediate impact on our energy levels. Foods that are difficult to process, such as spicy dishes, high-dairy products, or any food high in fructose—to name a few—can lead to low energy levels due to the amount needed to digest these foods. Other sugary drinks such as sodas and sweetened teas can make this process more strenuous on your body as well. Sticking to a regimented diet consisting of a balanced proportion of protein, fruits, and greens—specific foods like eggs, fish, bananas, and spinach—can help your body create and store the energy needed to get the most out of your day. Beware of excessive alcohol consumption before bed as well.

Photo of a Woman Hugging a Blue Pillow

Improve sleep quality

Better sleep correlates to increased energy. Additionally, having good sleep habits has an immediate impact on our quality of life. Bad sleep quality mainly is attributed to is to:

  • Excessive exposure to blue light
  • The wrong late-night snack
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Pre-bedtime workouts

Staying away from blue light is probably the most important out of this list. According to WebMD, “Americans spend an average of 7 hours a day on electronic devices. Worse yet, 9 out of 10 Americans admit to reaching for an electronic device [at least] several nights each week shortly before bedtime. That could be an invitation for insomnia.” So stay away from the phone before bed. Instead of reading your Twitter feed, pick up that book you’ve always told yourself you’d read. Additionally, stay away from certain foods if you are late-night snacking. Foods that are high in fat are typically harder for the body to digest, which can harm your sleep pattern.

Yellow Background and White Round Pills

Utilize vitamin supplements

For those looking for a reliable and straightforward way to boost energy levelsvitamin supplements are the way to go. They can be easily incorporated into any morning routine while providing consistent, organic results. B Complex vitamins such as B12 help our body transform the food we eat into energy. Other supplements such as melatonin—when taken before bed—can help you achieve a higher quality of sleep.

Fresh, Healthy, Vegetables, Vitamins, Vegetarian

Consider IV Therapy

For those who suffer from fatigue daily, considering intravenous therapy could help alleviate your symptoms. Treatments like NAD+ therapy, help combat the signs of aging, such as fatigue, poor cognitive function, and weakened immune system. B12 IV therapy can also help boost energy levels quickly.

 Conclusion

Chronic fatigue can take a huge toll on our quality of life, and too much of it can severely strain our mental health. Just about everything we do affects our energy levels, from the foods we eat to the amount we sleep. Sticking to a healthy, active lifestyle with a austere bedtime routine will prevent your body from running on E. So if you are someone who experiences constant fatigue, making some small changes to the way you live your life can have a huge impact on your health.

5 Suggestions to Help Teens Succeed in High School

One of the most stressful times of a young person’s life is high school. The social pressures, new academic concepts and extracurricular activities they face can be overwhelming.

If you want to help your teen overcome these challenges, you could take steps to lend your support and guidance. Even though some teenagers want independence, adequate parental involvement is instrumental to their academic success.

Here are five suggestions to help your teen become successful in today’s world:

  1. Offer Assistance with Studying

Planning is essential to help your teenager study while completing assignments in various subjects. Given that grades matter a lot in high school, taking time to plan for studying is vital for success, especially when your child is busy with extracurricular activities.

When your teen has a lot of subjects to cover, help them break down the studying tasks to manageable chunks. Also, get them to adhere to a calendar schedule. This way, they won’t be cramming for multiple tests in a single night. Remind them to take notes during lectures (or get a copy of the lesson hand-outs) and review them at home.

Another way to help your teenager with studying is to quiz them on ideas, facts or lessons that they find hard to understand. If the material you’re going to cover is beyond your abilities, suggest seeking help from a teacher or a classmate. You could also look for a private online tutoring services provider for academic assistance.

Once your child has finished studying, let them get a good night’s study. This way, they can recall information more easily during exam time.

  1. Create a Distraction-Free Environment at Home

Students struggle to study when they’re distracted. If your teen is having trouble studying at home, give them a distraction-free, well-lit and quiet place to study for their exams and complete their assignments. This area in your house may be an isolated table in the living room or a TV-free room.

Also, check in with your teen from time to time make sure they’re studying. Distractions, such as text messaging and social media, can prevent them from getting any work done. If they’re unable to study due to technological distractions, you may need to confiscate you child’s mobile phone and other gadgets. Then, give these electronics back once they finish with their studying or homework.

Alternatively, you could install an app or a computer program that blocks certain sites during specific times. An example is restricting social media access from 6 PM to 9 PM.

  1. Encourage Your Teenager to Read Books

Some teens aren’t open to the idea of reading books. Rather than read textbooks and other educational materials, they would prefer hitting up their friends on social media or watching new shows or movies on Netflix.

Reading, however, offers a multitude of benefits. According to an article from Psychology Today, this activity makes people sharper and more socially aware.

Apart from getting them to read the lessons on their textbook, encourage them to read other books. Don’t be picky about the materials they choose. Whether they prefer a light romance book or a graphic novel, the important thing is that they’re reading something that engages their minds.

  1. Help Them Stay Organized

Getting organized and maintaining focus will help your teenager succeed in nearly everything they do. Schools, however, may not tackle or cover these topics explicitly. You, however, can provide parental guidance by providing organizational and time-management tips.

One effective way of instilling organizational skills is to help your child keep class details, assignments and other school information in folders or binders organized by subject or class. You can also come up with a calendar to help your teen plan their time accordingly.

  1. Allot Time to Talk About School

Given that teenagers spend most of their time outside the house — in the classroom, on the field or with their friends in the mall — staying connected and engaged with them can be challenging. Although expanding social circles and doing school activities are important to high school students, parents should still serve as anchors for support, guidance, and love.

As much as possible, make an effort to speak with your child every day. This way, they’ll know that what goes on in your school matters a lot to you. When teenagers see their parents interested in their school lives, these teens are likely to take school seriously, as well.

When talking about school, listen carefully to what your teen is saying. Don’t forget to ask questions, as well. Apart from the usual “Hi, how’s your day?”, ask open-ended questions concerning their class loads. Then, offer to help them if necessary.

These strategies will help your teenager become successful in his high school life. Your involvement and support can go a long way in helping your child cope with the challenges of high school.
