You might think that the driver of a vehicle would be to blame for speeding. But it turns out that the car itself might have something to do with it too.

Imagine this: you get up in the morning and go outside to your driveway to open up your car – a Toyota Auris with a 1.3-liter engine. You sit in the driver’s’ seat, turn on the engine and take it out onto the open road. The problem with the Auris is that it takes about 15 seconds to get up to 60 mph, and during that time, you barely feel any acceleration at all. It’s not exactly thrilling.

Now suppose that you’re driving an Audi A5 or BMW. All of a sudden, driving becomes a thrill, and before you know it, you’ve broken the speed limit.

According to a lawyer who understands DUI penalties, many people speed when under the influence. And that appears to be true of BMW 4 Series drivers too. The worst offending 4 Series car, according to Admiral Insurance, is the 420d. It’s not the top-of-the-range model by any means, but it’s an incredibly popular diesel variant of the ever-popular four-door saloon, and that’s why it gets caught speeding so much.

The Audi Q5 was the German manufacturer’s answer to the affordable crossover coming out of Japan over the last decade. The car, popular among parents doing the school run, is one of the highest offending cars, surprisingly. Why? Well, it might have something to do with all those local speed limits around schools which change all the time. Should drivers be going 30 or 20? It’s not always clear.

Among all Q5 models, it’s the standard version of the car that has been involved in the majority of offences. With a 3.0 litre engine that produces an impressive 349 bhp, and goes from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.4 seconds, it’s not surprising that this vehicle comes near the top of the list.

The Bentley Continental

The Bentley Continental is the car that has racked up more speeding offences than any other, according to admiral. And it’s not hard to work out why. Not only does the Bentley have incredibly high performance, but it also tends to be driven by people who want to go places quickly and have the money to pay off any fines. The Continental will accelerate effortlessly and won’t tell you that you’re driving too fast. 30 feels the same as 130 mph.

Here’s a Dream App For You!

It seems there’s an app for nearly everything these days. But one important app is missing. And it’s one I’m sure just about everyone would love, and, in fact, it could quite possibly end up being the most popular app ever! Unfortunately, I don’t have the skill needed to build a decent app, let alone the one I dream of. And, It may not be technically possible to build such an app today. But, I’m going to show you what this app would do if I could make it.

What’s this dream app called? I would call it the “Call Guard App”.

And what would it do?

To summarize, it would accurately screen calls and block all unsolicited robocalls, scam calls, and spoofed number calls. And would pay you as well!

Like what you’ve read so far? Well, it may seem unbelievable, and you may be asking questions about some calls that you might want to receive, and of course, where would the money come from? So, let’s look at the details.

Recognizes wanted calls vs unwanted calls.

The app would screen all calls and would be able to tell the difference between unsolicited and solicited calls. So, if you have the pharmacy regularly give you a robocall to tell you your medicine is ready, the app will recognize that the number source is legitimate, and that you’ve done business with the pharmacy, even if you don’t have the pharmacy in your contact list! So you don’t have to worry about missing an important call from a number you haven’t dealt with before! It will also have the option of having the caller announced.

Recognizes spoofed numbers as such.

The app will be able to tell if a number has been spoofed. A spoofed number call will show you a number that is legitimate. But if you were to call that number back and talk to the person your caller id says the number belongs to, you will reach that person’s line, and maybe that person him or herself. However, they did not call you! The scammer simply “used” that person’s number so that you will think it’s a legitimate call and answer it! And, if you do answer it, you’ll not be talking to the person who actually owns that number, but the scammer! That’s why many people won’t answer any number they don’t recognize. This app will be able to recognize a spoofed number!

Keeps you from being bothered by unwanted calls in the least.

Perhaps the second best part? The app will block the unwanted call before it ever reaches your phone! So, it won’t ring, go to your voicemail, or register on your calls received list, and will never bother you at all! No more unwanted ringing when you’re at work or busy with something else!

It pays you!

And the best part? It pays you! I’d put the payment at $100 per call. Now, the app will be able to instantly locate the exact and true source number or unit making the scamming call as well as all related info regarding the source, and of course locate any accounts related to it. And it will automatically withdraw the money and put it into a special account that the app provides for you, with the ability to transfer the money to your own account of your choosing! The app will also make sure that no innocent accounts or people whose numbers have been spoofed or whose accounts have inadvertently been linked or attached to the scammer by the scammer, will be affected!

It can be tailored to your needs.

Options. It has a lot, enough so it can be easily tailored to your needs. And it will be very user friendly! Options include being able to add political campaigns’, companies’ and sales reps’ numbers to the list to block. They can be blocked by individual numbers or all numbers under a particular organization, such as “ABC Mortgage Refinance Partners”, or John Smith for Senate”. And they would be charged the $100 also, once they are added to the block list. They may not be scammers, and their numbers are legitimate, but they can still be relentless in their attempting to get you to answer their calls, often even after you already have!

The app can be used with older mobile phones, flip phones, and landlines.

It would have the ability to link with your landline and flip phone with a code you could enter that would block these unwanted calls as effectively as the app does on your smartphone!

The app would be free! Funding would come from an extra $10, withdrawn from the unwanted calling source!

So, I’m sure this app would be extremely popular, and could end the ever-growing avalanche of robocalls, scam calls, and other unwanted calls that plague nearly everyone to some extent.

Of course, the revenue coming into your account would decrease over time as organizations of all kinds would start backing off as it would cost them millions, but boy, the peace of mind, knowing the calls you get are far more likely to be legitimate and you’ll be much more likely to answer them! And you’ll have much more control over your incoming calls!

But alas, I think we can only dream for now, unless I am completely wrong and there is such an app. For now, there are some that do block calls, like Mr Number, which I do find to be quite effective, however, my phone will still ring for a bit most of the time while the app assesses the number.

So, I say this: If there is such an app and you know about it, please tell the world. You will be greatly thanked to say the least!

And if there is no such app that you know about, and you have the skill to make one or at least try to, then please do it! If you succeed, you will be forever loved and respected and rich!

Be Sense-Able: Protect Yourself From Hearing Loss

Listen, hearing loss can come with old age and some prevailing health issues. It sucks, but it can’t always be avoided. However, if you’re blessed with good hearing now, you can take steps to ensure your ears work fine for many more years to come.

Wear hearing protection

If you can avoid loud noises, then do so. Taking a different route when you know there are going to be loud sounds from roadworks is one example, as is avoiding those bars and clubs where you can barely hear anybody when they are speaking to you. However, when you can’t avoid loud noise, wear hearing protection. Having earplugs or earmuffs with you when you’re out and about is useful, as you can put them on should you find yourself in a particularly noisy area. And wearing them when you’re engaged in a noisy activity, such as using machinery or mowing the law, is a good way to protect your hearing.

Turn down the volume

There’s a reason why the neighbours keep banging on the walls! It’s probably because your tv or music system is too loud. If you didn’t realise the volume was so high, you might already be suffering from one of the signs of hearing loss. However, if you have turned up the volume purposefully to immerse yourself in the song or film you are engaged with, then you are putting your hearing at risk. Do yourself, and your neighbours a favour, and turn down the volume to an acceptable level.

If you’re in any way unsure when loud is too loud, use a decibel meter app to measure sound levels. The app will let you know when decibel levels are too high, and you can then take protective measures, such as using hearing protection, turning down the tv, or moving to a quieter and safer place.

Don’t stick anything in your ear

It sounds obvious, but how many of us still stick our fingers in our ear, or any other foreign object when trying to clean out ear wax? Even cotton swabs are unsafe, as they can cause damage to our ear canal if we push them in too deeply, and that will subsequently cause hearing loss. There are safer ways to clean your ears, such as using a damp cloth around the surface of your ear, or using an ear wax softener that is sold by your local pharmacist. You might want to see your doctor too, as they can irrigate your ears with a syringe. These are all safer methods than poking around with a finger or other object.

Avoid bad habits

Sticking your fingers in your ear is one bad habit you need to avoid, but there are others. Eating junk food is one, as studies have shown that a poor diet can affect your hearing. Instead, add these foods to your shopping list, as research suggests they will actually boost your ear health. And then give up smoking, if you haven’t already done so. Not only is this filthy habit bad for your lungs and heart, but studies have shown that tobacco smoke can be attributed to hearing loss. Try vaping instead!

You will miss your hearing when it’s gone, so be sense-able, and do all you can to protect yourself from hearing loss today.
