Shifting That House That Just Won’t Budge

Sometimes, finding a buyer for your house can feel very much like finding that needle in the haystack. However, the problem might be that you’re looking in the wrong pile of hay, or you’re not using the magnetism at your disposal to bring all those needles right to you. Selling a home, even one that seems resolute on staying right where it is, needn’t always be quite so difficult. Here, we’re going to look at the knowledge that can speed that process right along.

Know what sells a house

Believe it or not, the amount of time you’ve spent living in and loving a home isn’t going to be the biggest selling factor you can market. When people are looking at a home, they need to know the specifics of what it can offer them. One of the biggest selling points of a home is space. If you have a sizeable attic, basement, or connected garage that could be converted to living space, mention it. Even better, consider making an investment to convert it. In your advertising, highlight the area the home it’s in if that area has some strong marketable qualities. For instance, look at proximity to things like schools, university, and retail centers.

Know the market

Those aspects of the area are also going to help you better pin down your place in the market. For instance, families will have more use of areas near schools as opposed to single individuals. But that’s not the only way getting to know the market can help. You also need to know the right pricing and the right places to advertise. Assistance from real estate experts can help you find your appropriate position on the market. Some of them can even help you connect to a network that they run internally, helping you reach people in the market you might not otherwise be able to reach. It’s important to know when to use a bit of help, especially if your house is getting little attention at the moment.

art-wall-brush-painting

Know when you need to fix it up

If you’re getting attention, but few offers, then the problem isn’t how your marketing or positioning your home. The problem is with the home itself. Many of these problems can be easily fixed. For instance, you might think your swimming pool is a great accompaniment for the home, but have you considered that it’s more work for anyone who plans on moving in? Does your home feature a little too much of your personal tastes when people come through it? Could the garden use a bit of care in tidying up its appearance? These issues in home marketability will not only put customers off, it can decrease the value set by any valuations you or your customers get.

As with selling anything, knowledge is what’s going to help you sell your home a lot better. Know the demands of would-be homeowners, know how to position yourself on the market, and know when you need to do a bit of work to improve the appeal of your product.

Expensive Household? Time to Slash The Bills

There is a downside to the staggering standard of life we have in the 21st century, and that is: things are expensive and we need to work harder than ever before just to maintain the high quality lives we lead. It’s just a fact of life, one that nobody enjoys but everybody has to live by. That being said, things don’t have to be quite as expensive as we think they do. In fact, it’s more than possible to save big money with just a little bit of effort, effort that most people don’t think to put in. In no time at all, you could have grown your holiday saving pot or just have more disposable income on a day to day basis. Here’s a how to guide.

numbers-money-calculating-calculation

Play the Field

Brand loyalty might sound like a nice idea, and there are sometimes perks to staying with one company for a long time. However, these perks very rarely add up to the value you could save if you look at switching to other companies. Even if you don’t end up moving utility providers and the like, even thinking about it can be enough to get your current supplier to lower your rate. Remember: if you don’t ask, you don’t get. There probably a host of alternative companies you could take your business to, especially if you live in a busy urban area, so shop around – it might just be the most profitable hour you’ve spent in a while.

Cut the Non-Essentials

Take a walk around your home, do you really use all the things you pay for? For example, everyone knows that cable is expensive, but they still buy it and then never have time to actually watch it. While it might be nice to have the option to watch the latest shows and sports events, you could save big money just by cutting the cable and moving to an alternative entertainment source, such as those available online. If you don’t transfer, you’ll have some extra spending money for going out to be entertained, such as the cinema, or you can put it in the bank.

Lower Your Insurance

No one should advise you to cut your insurance; it’s not one of those things you want to save money on, as having the wrong or insufficient type of insurance can lead to much more expensive problems down the line. However, there are ways to lower your insurance costs without even changing company – you just have to show that your stuff is more secure than it once was. For example, keeping a car overnight in a garage is better than keeping it on the road in an urban area, and this will lower your car insurance money. Similarly, having a solid home security system will show insurers that you’re less likely to have problems with break ins – or if you do, you’ll be more likely to get your stuff back. A Night Owl security system review says you can watch your home while on the move, so if you see any problems you can call the police. This type of advanced security is way beyond what most homes have: implement them and you’ll save money (and gain peace of mind).

Don’t Ignore Home Maintenance

While cutting costs is important, neglecting essential maintenance can end up being far more expensive in the long run. Small issues around the home—like a minor leak, clogged gutters, or worn-out insulation—can quickly turn into major repairs if left unattended. Regularly checking for potential problems and addressing them early can save you a significant amount of money over time. Your roof, for example, is one of the most critical parts of your home to maintain. A damaged or aging roof can lead to leaks, higher energy bills, and costly structural damage if left unchecked. If you’re considering quality roof repairs and installations, it’s worth exploring professional services to ensure your home stays protected without unexpected expenses down the line.

Use Less Energy

One of the most simple ways to spend less money on running your home is to…use less energy running your home. Not every aspect of modern life must be the most convenient it’s ever been. For example, instead of running the dishwasher when it’s not full, wait until it is and then put it through a cycle. Or, better yet, hand wash – it takes no time at all and is more cost effective. The same can be applied, especially driers. On a sunny day, why wouldn’t you hang them outside to dry? It’ll save you money and they’ll even smell and feel fresher! There are a number of devices available that can reduce your energy usage too, including water meters so you can see how much you’re actually using.

Change Your Energy Supply

Rather than just limiting your energy use, why not go one step further and actually change your energy supplier? You could be saving hundreds each year by switching to something more sustainable like solar power. When you install solar panels on your roof, you’ll be generating your own energy (for free, or very little) using the power of sunshine. The energy you don’t use will get stored on a battery to be used later, and any excess can in fact be sold back to the grid. This means you could make money from your solar panels! It’s important to find a reputable installer that won’t charge you above and beyond for your solar panels, as the initial cost can be pretty high. The USACEA scam experts know all too well how many homeowners are missing out on great deals for installation and maintenance, so make sure you shop around.

Shop in a Smart Way

In some ways, food and household supplies have never been cheaper, but they’re still pretty expensive. Fortunately, there are more ways than one to shop for your household items. You don’t just have to go the supermarket and fill your trolley with what you need. You can “shop smart”. This means taking advantage of any coupons that may be on offer in stores, not being loyal to one product (go for whatever is on offer/cheapest), and possibly even visiting a number of stores during one shopping trip. Also, remember that small farmer’s markets will be cheaper as there are little overheads – and they’ll also be fresher and better for the environment! It’s possible to eat healthy and well on next to no money at all, you just might need to think about it a bit more.

What are You Spending?

People spend more money than they think spend. During the next month, keep tabs of all your outgoings and you might be surprised just where your money is going. If you buy a coffee or your lunch each day then that’ll amount to a sizeable chunk of your wages each month. It’s fine if you think it’s a must have daily expense, but if it’s not – buy a flask and make your coffee and lunch at home. Keeping track might also show how much is spent on alcohol or cigarettes, or splurge spending. At the end of the month you can’t be surprised if you don’t know where your money is – you’ll have it all written down!

Letting the Joneses Get Ahead

There is one simple way to slash the cost of your spending: don’t be competitive. While it’s tempting to buy things we don’t really need, we sometimes do this just to keep up with the people around us. If we sacrifice a little bit of our ego, we could end saving big money and getting the benefit of being out of the never ending struggle to keep up.

Marketing That Makes A Mark On Your Customers

city-people-art-sidewalk

We live in the modern age. An age which requires speed, speed and more speed. This era of technology and ever more rapid communication is amazing, but it’s also overwhelming for a small business just trying to make it in the world. Still, even the smallest fish in the biggest ocean can make a mark if they understand how the ocean works. It’s all about looking at your specific industry, and seeing which few marketing techniques have actually garnered results from your target audience. Don’t feel overwhelmed by the industry as a whole.

This may all be easier said than done, and I realise that, because your company has most likely already implemented some form of marketing campaign. However, the key is to stand out from the crowd, and, most likely, numerous other businesses within your trade are using similar marketing tactics to you. To be unique, then, you have to think outside the box. You have to look at what your potential customers want and offer it to them in a way which captures them entirely off-guard. Here are some ways you could do that.

Generate some hype.

Of course, there are many different ways to create a buzz around your company. You might do a little networking on the streets, and you could think of a quirky marketing gimmick related to your style of service, in order to appeal to your target audience. Of course, your target audience isn’t just out on the street. A great way to reach them is through the power of social media, and sharing some exciting content on Instagram or Twitter, perhaps with pictures of goods your company offers, could be the way to boost local hype for your business.

Do something personal.

Believe it or not, your potential range of customers don’t actually view themselves as “customers”. These are people, and when they’re purchasing a good or service from businesses within your industry, they don’t see themselves as another cog in your business design; these people see themselves as somebody who needed something, and they went to the best place which seemed to be offering it.

This is the key. You’ve got to stop thinking about your business as an end, and start seeing it through the eyes of your customers; as a means to an end. People don’t care about the company itself. They just want to buy a good or a service from a brand that they can trust, and this is the tricky part. You have to show that you’re different to the other players in the market.

In my opinion, the best way to do that is to do something real. Handwriting a letter to existing customers, for example, shows that a human being has taken time to talk to them specifically. Even sending a quirky, well-designed flyer could re-capture an old customer’s attention, and you could use a Weekend Printing service to do so in a professional, polished manner. People like the personal touch. They might even refer you to their friends if they feel you’re different, and you could offer them rewards for doing so. Think outside the box.

Ensure your team is on the same level.

The most important aspect of a successful marketing campaign is a real campaign, as I’ve said many times. If you want your business to project a driven and motivated image, everybody has to be on the same page. Your employees need to all want the same things for your business. Ensure you hire the right people for the job.

A Stitch In Time: Home Repairs You Can’t Afford To Put Off

I completely understand the want to put off routine maintenance in your home. After pushing yourself so hard at work, it’s more than reasonable to want to use the rest of your time for some well-deserved R and R. Having said that, there are certain things which can really come back to bite you if you put them off for too long. Here are a few problems you should jump on before they become a full-blown home disaster.

Replace Washing Machine Hoses

washing-machine-902359_960_720

It’s pretty hard to believe, but every year over $170 million’s worth of damage is caused by washing machine hoses failing. If you know it’s been a while, check on your washing machine hoses. Make sure that all the connections are secure, and that there’s a minimum of four inches of clearance between the connection and the back of the washing machine. This reduces the chances of the hose getting any kinks in it. Even the hoses that are labelled as “burst proof” stand the risk of breaking, and they usually fail in a single spot – the coupling. If you notice any issues with your washer’s hose, acting now could mean avoiding a very expensive call to an emergency plumber.

Patch Up Crumbling Masonry

When the mortar in your home’s masonry begins to crumble, it can loosen the position of bricks, and even cause them to fall right out of the wall of chimney. If you’re noticing deep cracks in your home’s mortar, usually accompanied by wasps or bees making their home in the gaps, you need to act! The issue may only be isolated to a single wall, but it’s essential to fix these kinds of issues before they get any worse. Grouting is the best way to make minor repairs. Simply mix up some quality cement, along with sand and lime, and press it into the cracks you have. Just be aware that the mortar you add won’t match the colour of the existing mortar exactly. However, the mixture you use will weather over time, and make for a fairly close match. Larger issues will require the services of a contractor. Whether it’s big or small, cracks in your masonry certainly aren’t something you can afford to ignore.

Secure Loose Rails

wood-691632_960_720

If you’ve got a deck or balcony on your home, and there’s an area of railing that always rocks back and forth when you lean on it, this will need to be repaired as soon as possible. Sure, it may have felt stiff enough the last time you checked. However, the longer it stays in this condition, the more risk there will be of it toppling completely, and causing you or your guest to take a dangerous header off the deck! Screws and nails unfortunately aren’t enough to put this issue to bed. You’ll need to source a special connector which will fully secure the railings to the frame, within the relevant code requirements. Be sure to check and understand any railing codes before diving into a DIY fix.

At the end of the day, you should always use the latest tech if it’s going to improve the service you provide.

Custom computer systems

Firstly, you should always use a custom computer system for your company. You need something that’s designed to meet your requirements and operate seamlessly. So, now is the time to contact specialists and get the ball rolling. A personalized package is always going to work better than a general release. Industry experts from SimpleGrid Technology help clients to manage and maintain systems of that nature all the time. Indeed, many firms on the market could help to make sure you never experience issues. You just need to perform some online research and find a reputable one as soon as possible. That way, your business will never find itself out of action if there are any computer bugs.

Digital patient records

The use of digital patient records is perhaps the most significant advancement in the last ten years. In the past, you couldn’t treat someone without first calling their doctor and asking for copies of their files. It could take a week or so before you receive the documents, and that wasn’t good enough. The patient’s condition might have deteriorated, and they might have gone elsewhere. Thankfully, that is no longer the case thanks to digital records. These days, you can access patient files without having to leave your workplace or make phone calls. You can even offer online consultations if you think it will help. That’s excellent news because it means you can treat people without worrying about things like allergic reactions.

Google Adwords is the single most important service you will use this year. There is no minimum investment, and you can target people all over your local area. It uses an algorithm to identify the most suitable internet users and display your advertising graphics. It’s the best way to attract new patients.
Now you know about some of the technologies that could improve your operation, there is no need to hesitate. Perform as much research as possible and implement their use into your business plan today. Failure to do so could mean you never steal the lion’s share of the market. Sage Advice For A Sucessful Business Roadshow

8391625277_866b8a6367_n

flickr

If you are a startup owner worried about attracting clients to your business, why not go out and find them instead? Events and Roadshows are incredibly popular these days, as it gives businesses a chance to get up close and personal to their ideal clients. Of course, it’s essential that you get it right – and I’m going to reveal some top tips for you to ensure your next Roadshow is a fantastic success. Read on to find out more!

Plan your objectives

OK, so you have a product or service that you want to demonstrate to customers, but you have a big question to answer first: why? Any successful roadshow needs to align directly with your core business objectives. It might be to build up a list of potential clients for marketing purposes. It could be to make some early sales. Or, it might just be to raise awareness of your new product. The point is, ensure that you have a reason for taking your goods and services on the road, other than for the sake of it.

Choose your locations

There are two steps to choosing the right location, so don’t just select the most exciting venues you can find. First of all, you have to work out your ideal audience – who are they, and most importantly, where do they live? Your venue choice will depend largely on its proximity to your customers, and the ease in which they can get there. Thorough market research is needed before you start choosing a venue and location – so don’t miss out this critical stage.

Hiring and buying

Will you need any equipment for your roadshow? You might need to develop relationships with marquee companies, or diesel generator suppliers to give some power for outdoor events. If you are hiring space, ensure that it is cost-efficient for your needs. For example, many hotels will rent out spaces to businesses in the form of packages, which include things like catering and staff. Do you really need all this, or would it be possible to cut your costs and get a better deal?

The importance of speakers and entertainment

I hate to break it to you, but as a fresh young startup, your idea is not likely to resonate with a huge audience – yet. So, you need to give people other reasons to attend your roadshow. Are there any industry thought leaders you could hire to speak at your event? Will you have any other form of entertainment – music, for instance, or even a magician? Take a look around at what the major industry trade shows do and see if you can follow suit on a smaller scale.

Promote it

Finally, don’t assume that your event will sell out just because it exists. The simple truth is that it won’t. To ensure maximum capacity, you will need to perfect your pitch, and then promote, promote, promote. In many ways, this will involve even more work than arranging the roadshow itself – so be prepared for some late nights and constant marketing.

The Costs Of Owning A Car (And How To Reduce Them)

17307620362_83e2194883_b

Driving has become a rite of passage for most of us. But the cost of owning a car is constantly going up. Before taking the decision to become a road user, it’s important to understand the finances behind owning a car so that you don’t end up driving yourself into a sea of debt. The costs are high and you’ll need some money behind you to get you started, but there are ways to reduce spending and budget your driving so that it’s relatively affordable.

The sale price

The first cost to consider when buying a car is the sale price. In most cases, buying privately is cheaper than buying from a dealer – although this does depend a lot on the condition of the car.

Budget how much you’re willing to spend before shopping around. You may wish to save up for a few months before. Alternatively, you may be able to take out a loan (your bank may be able to offer you one or you could try out a loan site such as personalmoneystore.com).

When shopping around, don’t be afraid to haggle. Whilst bartering isn’t something we’re used to in Western society, it’s expected in bigger sales trades such as cars. Be wary of salesmen that try to throw in extra costs on top of the original price. And never buy a car without seeing it first!

Depreciation

Buying a car second-hand is definitely the cheapest way to do it. Those willing to take any vehicle will be surprised by how cheaply you can get some older cars – sometimes only for a couple hundred pounds.

Unlike property, most motor vehicles will get cheaper the more they age. This is known as ‘depreciation’.  It’s important to take this into account when buying a car as whilst you may be able to get some second-hand cars remarkably cheap – they will most certainly have few miles left on the clock. This is fine if you’re buying a temporary convenience vehicle to get you from A to B. But if you’ve got a long road trip planned or hope to travel regular long distances over a long period of time, an older car may not be appropriate. Repair costs over the years may add up and you could pay triple the amount the car is actually worth. When it comes to selling the car, you might not be able to get much for it. You may even be forced to scrap it – losing you money.

17309017491_b037ef1709_b

Insurance

Whilst the sale price is a big cost to consider, car insurance can sometimes work out even more expensive. All road vehicles in the UK must be covered by third-party insurance at least. If you’re a young driver you can expect to pay an extortionate amount at first, but this premium will go down over the years.

Many things can raise your insurance rate, just as many factors can lower it. Advanced driver courses and black box insurance are some drastic measures you can take to initially lower insurance. As time goes by, you should then try to avoid collecting speeding tickets or driving convictions (such as being caught driving on your phone) as these will raise your insurance.

Unfortunately making a claim can also raise insurance costs whether or not you were the perpetrator. Some companies will introduce a ‘no claims bonus’ offer to sway people into not making claims. When involved in an accident, always weigh up whether you’re more likely to spend or save money from making a claim.

Tax

All car owners must pay road tax – unless your vehicle is electric or built before 1973. Road tax is charged in bands, each band corresponding to how green your vehicle is. Band A applies to electric cars in which there are no emissions. The further up the bands that your car is situated, the more tax you will have to pay (so look for a car with a low band to avoid extra costs!).

Brand new cars pay higher tax their first year. In the second year this is reduced, sometimes by half the amount.

If you are not using a car you don’t have to pay tax on it, so long as you store it off road and declare it to the DVLA. You will have to sign a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN).

MOT

Cars that are over three years old have to go through an annual check known as an MOT test. This test checks that your car is safe and roadworthy.

Most garages will offer MOTs – you should shop around for prices before committing. Be wary of some cheaper MOTs from garages with a low reputation. Occasionally, you may be able to save costs on your MOT test by making a few basic checks first such as checking the horn, the oil and the tyres.

The tester will let you know of any compulsory repairs that need to be made. You should also talk with the tester afterwards to gauge an idea of any future problems that you can nip early in the bud cheaply before they get worse.

car-refill-transportation-transport

Fuel

Fuel is expensive and prices are unlikely to fall dramatically any time soon. You can save money by driving economically. Many modern cars will have in-built features to help you cut down on fuel consumption such as indicators to tell you when the best time is to change gear. You should consider how economical the car is before buying. Certain extras can also be bought to save fuel consumption such as fuel savers and vapour devices.

Tyres

Tyres will gradually wear over time and are expensive to replace – so be careful with them. You can prevent tyre wear by keeping your tyres constantly filled up with air. Sadly, petrol stations charge you to use ‘air’, but it’s worth the cost to prevent you going through multiple tyres.

When buying new tyres don’t be tempted into purchasing cheaper half-worn tyres. These will no doubt blow out more quickly and you’ll back buying new tyres sooner than you need to be.

usmc-100702-m-6457m-002

Servicing and repairs

Whilst careful driving can prevent damage, as well as wear and tear, you can never prepare for all faults. Some may be electronic problems which could be a result of a manufacturing fault. Reading up on car reviews before buying can help warn you of any common faults.

Timing belts will need to be replaced once a vehicle has reached the end of its mileage. This is an expensive job, but failing to get fixed could result in a catastrophic engine failure – which nobody wants!

Warning lights will tell you when there are faults in your vehicle. Some may not be too serious, but others such as brake faults should be seen to straight away. As with all the above, remember to shop around and find the best deal. If you’re making a claim as a result of a crash or vandalism, always let your insurance company know first before making repairs.

Parking

A final cost to driving that you may want to consider is parking. Where you can avoid having to pay parking charges, do it! In some cities this may be less avoidable. Always park in places that you’re allowed to park to avoid paying fines. Unless you’re disabled, parking in disabled bays and on yellow lines will get you a ticket. Consider whether your neighbourhood has parking restrictions and weigh up these costs before buying a car.

Start Saving Today

A lot of us weren’t blessed with that money-saving gene, or that ability to understand why anyone would to save money; living each day like it’s your last hardly leaves room for you to think about the future and why saving is important. That’s why we sometimes need help understanding how a little bit of saving can improve our lives, a lot. As such, we have come up with a variety of reasons why you should consider putting aside a little bit of cash each month, which will hopefully help give you a clear goal to work towards. Enjoy.

  1. Emergencies.

This is pretty much the number 1 reason for saving money. There is nothing worse than when you suddenly have to come up with some money to cover an unexpected cost. This could be anything. It could be your car has decided it doesn’t want to drive anymore, not with the current clutch anyway. It could be that your boss hasn’t been telling the truth and they no longer need you at work, or you didn’t pass probation, and so you’re suddenly left without an income. It could be that you’re in desperate need of some water heater repair because those cold showers are starting to suck now it is the winter. There is no correct figure, but we recommend you start with having about a thousand bucks put aside, you know, just in case.

  1. House

This is a very common reason for why people save. They want to own their own home and in order to do this they really need a down payment. What’s more, when it comes to house buying, the more money you have saved the better you will be able to negotiate a great deal. Money is power after all. You’ll be able to negotiate a better interest rate and be able to look at bigger houses or houses closer to your ideal area or whatever it may be. It will also make repayments much easier to cope with. So start saving for this.

  1. Vacation or Staycation

There aren’t many things that are more annoying than when your friends decide they want to book a holiday and have invited you to join them, but you can’t accept their kind offer because you can’t afford it. Or it could just be that the increasing stress of life has got too much and you just need a break. Having a little something tucked away will grant you that freedom and the more you have tucked away the further you can go or the more luxurious your stay can be. Spontaneity is a luxury well worth investing in.

  1. Education

It may be that you’ve decided to go back to school for whatever reason. Maybe you want to improve your knowledge, maybe you want to learn a skill, maybe you have started your own small business and want to improve on your marketing know how. Saving up will allow you to achieve this dream. It may be that the education isn’t even for you. Maybe you’ve just had a child and you want them to have the best future possible, including a college education. You best start saving now. Trust us.

Mr Blanding Built His Dream House And So Can You!

That title’s a reference to a 1948 Cary Grant film about a man who buys what he thinks is his dream home. He then discovers that the home is a disaster and sets about rebuilding it. It’s a ridiculously funny film that has been remade several times. You might know The Money Pit with Tom Hanks or Are We Done Yet starring Ice Cube. Each film shares the same conclusion. The house is eventually rebuilt and it’s a dream come true. It looks stunning and would be a place that anyone would love to buy. I’d be willing to bet that outcome has encouraged quite a few people to buy and build their own dream home. But is there a way of avoiding the hell they go through first in these films before they get the final result? There sure is!

It’s Expensive So…

Cut costs elsewhere because there’s no getting around the fact that building a brand new home costs money. You might have heard that it’s cheaper to build a home than buy one brand new. Not if you’re trying to a build a dream come true it isn’t. If you don’t believe this, just remember it’s the one percent that usually build their own homes. As such, it’s important that you cut costs as much as possible in other areas. For instance, you should make sure that you’re getting the best price for the move team. Local movers often vary their prices dramatically so it’s worth shopping around for the cheapest deal. This isn’t the only area you can cut costs either. You’re also going to need the help of a solicitor. Again, you should be looking for the one offering the best price for a quality service.

It’s Difficult So…

Choose your building and design company carefully. Back in 1948 building your own home was quite common. After all, there was still plenty of land in the suburbs of the biggest towns and cities. Families would buy it and then set to work building a beautiful house there. This idea has become more popular recently, thanks mainly to the reduction in cost of home builds. It’s now possible for a building company to offer a private service like this with a price tag that middle class families can afford. But you do have to make sure you get a great team. With so many to choose from it would be easy to fall for a scam business or one that doesn’t care about providing a quality building.

It Will Take A While So…

You’ll spend a few months completing plans for your home and up to a year getting it built. You don’t want to rush this process because that will lead to issues with quality. Remember, at some point, you probably will want to sell this house to someone else. It’s not just you that’s going to be living there and needs to like it so don’t cut corners. Otherwise, you can end up with a property that is virtually unsellable, and you don’t want that.

Once you’re finished, I’m sure you’ll be thrilled with your new home. It could be everything you’ve ever wanted.

Face to Face or Face to Screen: Are the Best Doctors Now Online?

Ever found yourself feeling too weak and weary because of an illness (that, if anything, seems to be worsening) to even go and get it checked out at your local doctor’s surgery? But at the same time you find yourself thinking about how many more of those lemon paracetamol drinks, that you’ve hated since you were forced to drink them by your mother, you will you have to force down your throat before this hell-on-earth ends? If so, maybe it’s time to take matters into your own hands, literally. An increasing trend in health care provision is that of the online doctor format, where advice and even diagnosis is given. But is it a viable option, in comparison to seeing your GP in person? Here, we take a look at the ins and outs of the new format.

Platforms such as this online doctor app offers users the chance to seek medical advice quickly from leading UK doctors, therapists and medical specialists on your mobile phone. The fact that is it so quick has to be an instant positive, doesn’t it? If the hypothetical situation mentioned at the beginning of this article was to unfortunately transpire for somebody, then the speed and accessibility of such a service could only be a good thing. Internet sites such as this symptom checker to offer a service that greatly speeds up the finding and subsequent diagnosis of any potential ailments or illnesses.

But with this kind of power that the internet offers, also comes a lot induced self-doubt. For example, is what you’re reading entirely true? Does that spot you’ve got really mean you’re dying? Some medical websites are run on relatively simple databases, which means a lot don’t offer definitive answers and merely a nod in a direction due to the fact that it cannot handle or recognise so many different symptoms at once. If the direction a site leads you in isn’t one that is particularly nice, then this itself may lead to hypochondria or over-worrying about the seriousness of what you’re being told you may have. Doctors warned of online communication risks, and when you think about it in this sense, you can see why. Some other problems with online doctors include the fact that if a patient becomes to comfortable with an online format of seeking health help, then they may run to it in a time of need, when really emergencies are best dealt with in an A&E department.

But all of this isn’t to say that there aren’t positives; the previously mentioned accessibility to all (those who have the internet, of course) means that everybody can seek putting their mind to ease, simply with the click of a button. And you can click here to see six online doctors sites tested by leading professionals in the health giver field, or click here for advice on how to deal with everyday problems such as headaches, back aches and depression.
