4 Safety Features To Stop You Arriving 10 Minutes To The Pearly Gates

Every manufacturer that has entered the race for autonomous vehicles knows there is only one endgame that holds any real weight, and that is safety. Societies, governments, trade unions, researchers, rule makers and just about everyone that has a brain cell knows that driverless cars will not be granted a place on our roads until total safety can be guaranteed, and it is this search for all things safety that has seen some of the most incredible crash avoidance technology become standard in most modern cars.

So, while a future of self-driving cars may still be some way off, a future whereby the roads are safer than ever before is here, and these are technologies that are leading the way:

Blind Spot Detection

To give it to you in Layman’s Terms, the blind spot detection system simply makes you aware of a car lurking about in your blind spot, usually with a blinking light located on your side mirror. The more recent blind spot detections systems will issue an audio alert, as well as apply the brakes on that side to prevent a lane change. Some even detect pedestrians and cyclists, which is great for city driving.

Lane Keeping Assist

According to a car accident lawyer we spoke to, while tiredness, distracted driving, and reckless driving are among the three main causes of a collision, it is while changing lanes that these collisions occur. That is where lane changing assist technology comes into play because it prevents you from wandering into someone else’s lane for whatever reason. The way it works is through a camera-based system that detects the lines to keep you central. If it notices you steer or veer to one side, it will gently counter you and put you back in the middle.

Rearview Camera

In the same way we can’t remember how on earth we survived without smartphones, we’re not sure how we ever managed without rearview cameras either. Because they are now so standard in modern cars, you may have forgotten their importance, but they have had a significant impact on safety and damage. You simply put your car into reverse and a camera flicks on the dash, helping you see exactly what – or who – is behind you so you may react accordingly. They are immensely handy, but they are also immensely important.

Windscreen Displays

The fact car displays have been located within the dashboard for so long does not nullify the fact they can distract. You are having to take your eyes off the road in order to check your speed or glance at your navigation system. This is annoying, but it is also dangerous. That is where heads-up displays come in, solving this problem by projecting everything onto the windscreen, from speed to directions, so that you never have to peel your eyes away from what’s ahead. People think that distracted driving means driving while using your phone or telling your kids to stop arguing in the back, but it is any kind of distraction, including looking at your Sat Nav.

Welcome To The Future

The world of business is constantly evolving. The technology that is growing with it is immense. So many companies have streamlined their business so that their processes are quick and easy, using such advanced technology. But with it constantly changing, it can be pretty hard to keep up. Depending what niche you’re in, they’ll be more advancements than others. For example, manufacturing relies on machinery and robots so heavily, that the industry has no choice but to keep evolving its technology. With this however, comes a few issues. Money being one of them, time, and human labour. There isn’t enough time to keep up with the demands of what’s changing. There isn’t enough money being pumped into technology innovation by the government. There isn’t enough skilled labourers to build the parts as quickly as people would like. The demand is so high, that we’re seeing more and more businesses struggle to keep up. However, it is common that businesses will fund their own innovative technology that is changing the world, let’s take a look at some of the tech that will revolutionise how the business world works, in particular, manufacturing.

3D Printing

Possibly one of the most innovative pieces of technology to date. This is a process purely controlled by a computer. It’s basically layers of material that are constructed by the orders of a computer, to form a 3D object. Usually, they’re created to mimic an object already created, but they can be used to create brand new designs. This however, is much more confusing. The benefits this brings to businesses is huge. Time saving is one of them. Compiling the product itself using manual labour would take ages. A machine can do it in a matter of hours, and will do a much more precise job. There are so many components working at the same time to give you the perfect output. The parts are usually manufactured by multiple different companies. A 3D printing company with then compile them all to work seamlessly to create a perfect product. For example, the MOON’S brushless motors are handcrafted by that company, as is the thermocouple. It is wise to be done this way, as the companies designing the separate parts are experts in their field. Precision is another positive, rarely any faults occur compared to when a human hand is producing the product. The only negative side is the fact they are rather expensive. Money’s no object to some companies that just want to deliver quality products. However, for smaller businesses it may be a bit of a set back.

Robotics

Robotics is now becoming a huge part of business. Again, especially in the world of manufacturing, and automotives. It can also be widely seen in medicine. However, we’re going to mainly focus on the benefits it gives to manufacturing and automotives. The main being speed. Robots are programmed to act in the same way as humans. They are essentially meant to be mimicking the movements a human would make. However, everyone knows a human has the tendency to become a little lazy now and again. With robots, they’re working at maximum efficiency all the time. So in theory, they’ll be doing a quicker job. They don’t need to take breaks either, further speeding up production time. Most companies choose to still use humans along side robots. This is mainly due to the fact that just like humans can have days off sick, robots can break. And unlike humans, they aren’t always the easiest to fix. However, on the whole they are generally much more reliable. Car manufactures in particular love using robots due to the fact they are so clean. During some points of the manufacturing process, suits have to be worn, and rooms have to be completely sealed in order for no dust particles to enter. Using robots eliminates this risk factor. They’re also so much more precise. They have the skills and stability to perform tasks that an unsteady human hand might not be able to do. Overall, they’re such a great addition to so many companies and production lines. Robotics technology is only going to improve over the coming years.

IT

IT already played such a huge role within a business. From just computers in the office, to huge servers managing different aspects. The way the technology is evolving in terms of IT is huge. The power of computers is taking over the way processes are run. Whether it be in house, or outhouse, companies are constantly find new ways for IT to improve their business. Let’s use servers as an example. Huge companies that rely on a lot of software and other components may have their servers in house. Smaller companies will choose to use companies outside to manage them. Simply because servers are just so hard to control. The issues that can arise with them can be devastating, so it may be cheaper for companies to have a managed server outside of their company. However, in-house servers are safer in terms of, you can manage what goes on with them. Pretty much everything has had to evolve to be on the internet. Services, marketing, sales, you name it, it’ll be on the internet. So the speed and functions of IT systems has greatly improved. There’s now fiber optic broadband that businesses use to speed up their in house processes. Website design is unparalleled compared to what it used to be. The power of social media to influence marketing among a given audience is also huge. Your business will literally rely on IT for the rest of time. It is for the most part reliable, however, things such as copyright and trade marking etc. need to be closely monitored. Utilise IT and the web to make your business better.

The future of tech in the business world, as you can see, is constantly evolving. Before we know it, we may have machines, computers, or robots fully taking over the role of humans. It’ll be interesting to see where these three factors are in the next 50 years.

4 Genius Ways You Can Relax At Home

Relaxation is something everyone can do with now and then. Our society seems to be built around stress, stress, and more stress. The cost of living is on the up, meaning we have to stress about having enough money to survive. There are terrorist attacks and tragedies every month, which causes us to stress about our safety. And we have the normal stressors in life such as children, education, work, weight, health – the list goes on and on.

To put it simply, the more time we have to relax, the better. One of the best and most effective ways of relaxing is getting a nice deep tissue massage. Alternatively, you can visit a spa and spend the day having a detox to cleanse your spirit. Unfortunately, you can’t do either of these things every day. Some people can’t even afford to do them ever, so there needs to be other options.

Have no fear, there are a lot of ways you can relax, and most of these things can be done without leaving your home. So, if you’ve had a stressful day, or you just have some free time and want to de-stress, here are a few genius ideas you can steal:

(Image via: http://bit.ly/2ga8qXA)

Gaze At The Stars

This is a wonderful way of relaxing at home, and there are many ways you can go about it. If the weather is nice, you can sit outside or lie on a mat and gaze up at the stars from your garden. In fact, if you have a sunlounger or deck chair, then that’s even better. Doing this is so effective because you can lose yourself in the sky. You get to stare at all the stars and see them twinkling. It gets your mind racing as you think about what else could be out there or you attempt to draw things with the stars. Factor in the fresh air filling your lungs and all your stress seems to fade away.

This is the best way of doing it, but you do have two other options. The first is to get a telescope so you can look at the stars from inside. This is really fun as you can try and identify certain stars or planets, and you get a better view of everything. The second alternative is to get a virtual reality space game or app. I think there’s one on the Google Play store for Android devices, it basically gives you a tour of space, but you feel like you’re there because it’s virtual reality.

I don’t know why, but the stars and space are just a very relaxing thing to think about. Maybe it’s because we concern ourselves with things that are millions and billions of light years away from our own problems on earth.

Chill Out In A Bean Bag Chair

Relaxation is all about letting all tension leave your body and just getting comfortable. You want to be able to sit down, stretch out, and hear a huge sigh leave your body. Some people have a favorite armchair that they sit in to relax, but I find conventional chairs and sofas to be a bit hit and miss. Instead, you should get your hands on a bean bag chair. If you visit Fombag online, you’ll see a huge range of bean bag chairs that are filled with foam. This type of chair is ideal for relaxing in, as you get maximum comfort levels. With bean bags, you pretty much just sink into the chair and become part of it. You melt down into the bag, and it’s incredibly relaxing.

Get yourself a bean bag, and just sit in it while listening to music, reading a book, or watching TV. The effect will be instantaneous. The only bad thing is that you might struggle to get back up because you’ve relaxed so much your body now feels part of the chair.

(Image link: http://bit.ly/2yWwT6J)

Take A Long Bath

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to a spa, you can give yourself some spa treatments in your bathroom. One of my favorite ways of relaxing is running a nice hot bath. Sometimes, I drop in a bath bomb, so it smells and looks really nice. Then, I turn the lights off and have my bath in candlelight. Bring in a radio or some speakers, and you can listen to some relaxing music as well.

The warmth of the water helps with circulation and can soothe any tight spots in your body that have built up through tension. It’s a good way to help relax your muscles and get yourself ready for a long night’s sleep. If I could, I’d do this every night before bed. Those of you without children should do this as often as possible before it becomes hard to do regularly!

Stretch Every Morning And Evening

Staying on the topic of relaxed muscles, tight ones can be a source of stress for everyone. When your muscles become tight and knotted, they develop trigger points that cause pain and soreness. It means you wake up every morning with a stiff back or neck, and this soreness stays with you throughout the day.

Getting into the habit of stretching can help you get rid of a lot of tension in your body, and relax a lot more. My advice is to find a stretching routine online and do it every morning and evening. It will be the perfect way to start the day by getting your body moving and loosening up all your tight points. Then, a stretching session in the evening can relax your muscles and get you ready for bed. It doesn’t have to be a long routine, I say five minutes minimum and maybe thirty minutes max.

As you can see, there are plenty of genius ways you can relax at home. The best thing about all these ideas is that they’re easy to fit into your routine. Everyone can find a spare ten minutes or so to relax in a bean bag chair or do some stretches. We’ve all got time for a bath once or twice a week, and you can stare at the stars whenever you like. Give everything a try, and you can relax more and see so many health benefits as a result.

Why Your Business Needs To Fully Embrace Technology

Your business already uses technology in its day to day workings, of course. Every company uses computers and the internet; it would be impossible to reach clients and deliver any sort of service in the modern age without using at least some manner of technology within your business’ operations. Nonetheless, that doesn’t mean your business is fully utilizing the potential of current and upcoming technologies in the modern age. You need to have your eyes on the digital industry so that you can spot new and exciting opportunities to really build your small or medium-sized company into a real empire with the help of computer science. Here are some reasons as to why your business needs more technology.

Automation is the future.

One of the most intriguing ways in which technology has changed business over recent years is through the increasing improvement of automated systems. Of course, the big question that scares people is: “When will computers become as smart as humans?” However, singularity isn’t really a concept that should scare you. As a business owner, the idea that you could automate increasingly complex tasks with the beauty of artificial intelligence should be exciting; it means free labor (until computers become self-aware and demand equal pay).

Still, you don’t have to fire employees just yet or worry about a computer taking over your role. We most likely won’t be completely replacing humans with robots in our lifetime (perhaps that’ll be a worry for people a few hundred years from now), but it is becoming increasingly possible to help your employees use their time more efficiently. Utilizing new programs, such as accounting software, you can leave administrative and menial tasks to automated systems so that your workers can focus their brainpower on more complex and creative issues. Essentially, your company can increase its workforce virtually, save money, and maximize time. And whilst automated labor has been replacing manual labor for many years already, the ways in which it does so are looking to multiply over coming years. That’s why you need to keep your eye on new technological solutions.

Exist on the cloud.

What is important to understand is that the cloud isn’t infinite or disconnected from the physical realm (that’s a big shocker, I know). Cloud computing is physically based but what makes it a better solution than storing your business’ data on-site is that it can increase security, reduce the costs that come with a large server room, and help to keep your workforce connected online. It means any remote workers can access company files online, for example, but it’s secure and smart enough to block out unwanted access. It means your business’ data is backed up offsite should something ever happen to your company’s physical premises. The positives are endless.

You have two options: you can either fully embrace technology or your business can be left behind. The world may have changed but the way in which business works remains the same. You need to stay ahead of the curve if you want to be successful; you can’t always play catch-up. Consumers are looking for stand-out solutions and you have to be ready to separate yourself from the cloud; simply “having technology” isn’t enough. What are you doing to address the gap in the market? Are you fully embracing technology to offer more to potential customers?

Business Promotion: 9 Strategies For Winning At Trade Shows

Collision conference and trade show in New Orleans on May 4, 2017

Link

Depending on the nature of your company, some of the people reading this post might have to exhibit their brand at trade shows in the future. That can become somewhat of an expensive exercise because the business has to pay a fee to the organisers in most instances. There are also lots of other areas in which you’ll have to spend cash if you want to achieve the best results. There are some expert strategies listed below that all entrepreneurs should consider before arranging their next big trade show date. Failure to take note of this advice could mean your firm never reaches its full potential, and you never make the level of profits you deserve. So, take a read through this information and apply it to your business model as soon as possible.

Choosing the most suitable events

Before you do anything else, all business owners will have to make sure they identify the most appropriate trade shows for their brand. There are thousands of different exhibitions all around the country every single year. So, even those in niche markets should manage to find something that works for them. Get in touch with the promoters as soon as possible and ask about the process of getting a stall at the event. In most instances, you will have to send a small deposit and pay the entire cost at some point before the date. Some organisers are known to charge a small fortune, and so it’s wise to discover the price as soon as possible. That way, you have enough time to prepare. Ideas for reducing the price include:

  • Sponsoring the event
  • Striking a deal with the promoters

Just make sure the events you select will enable you to chat and network with the owners of rival firms, and any members of the public who show interest in your marketplace.

Taking your best team members

No entrepreneur should go to a trade show without lots of back-up. That means it’s vital that you take a look at the people working in your office and try to work out which of them will provide the most assistance during the event. Ideally, you want someone who knows the company inside out and has an excellent approach to customer service. When all’s said and done, whoever you take along to the trade show will represent your brand just as much as you. They will have to speak to new potential clients and customers while trying to convince them to spend money. So, you want someone who deals well with stressful social situations of that nature. Bear in mind that anyone you take will have to:

  • Speak to people who show interest
  • Answer questions about the business
  • Present themselves in a professional manner

Once you select the right employees, you can write a script and ask them to learn it. That way, you still control 100% of the things they say to any attendees during the event.

Looking the part

First impressions count in the business world, and so anyone attending an exhibition will need to ensure they present themselves in the right light. If you run a fun company aimed at young people, wear some jeans and a funky t-shirt for the best results. If your brand focuses on providing legal services to large corporations, you’ll probably want to invest in a designer suit or something similar. Make sure any workers you take along to the event also follow that strategy. The last thing you need is for someone who looks like they’re about to go jogging to deal with new potential clients. That is not going to encourage anyone to part with their hard-earned cash. Some quick tips might include:

  • Wearing a uniform
  • Dressing to suit the occasion
  • Wearing branded clothing
  • Visiting a tailor

Link

Investing in promotional materials

It’s vital that you have lots of promotional materials available at your trade shows. That is because lots of other companies will occupy the same space, and so visitors won’t have enough time to stop off at every stall they encounter. Still, the last thing you want is for people to walk away without learning anything about your products or services. So, promotional materials like flyers, business cards, and other items are going to come in handy. Also, take a look at some cheap ID carrying ideas, so attendees have no trouble distinguishing between those working for your brand, and those stopping for a chat.

You might also like to buy:

  • Branded t-shirts
  • Mugs
  • Pens
  • Mousemats

Another good item to buy to promote your brand are silicone wristbands. A great place to look for creative wristbands is sleekwristbands.com. Here you can see how wristbands can be modified to promote your brand any way you choose. And another good thing about wristbands is that they can be given away as promotional items as well as worn by your staff in attendance.

Creating a quiet area

Some of the people who stop and have a conversation at the trade show might want to learn more about your company. For that reason, it makes sense to create a quiet area away from the hustle and bustle where you can chat. There are lots of tools that will assist during that process if you don’t mind investing some money. Indeed, it’s possible to find work pods online that should cancel out most of the background noise. That will make it much easier for individuals to hear themselves think and learn some more information about your business. Of course, those who can’t afford to do that should consider arranging meetings for the following day. Just hire an office somewhere near to the convention centre and book people in for a discussion.

Link

Getting in touch with graphic designers and printers

There is no getting away from the fact that you need to make your exhibition stand appear as attractive and appealing as possible. That is why you shouldn’t try to cut back on spending when it comes to contacting graphic designers and printers. Just search Google for renowned specialists in your local area and then visit them to discuss the work. Ideally, you’re going to want lots of posters and banners to ensure your stand catches the eyes of passers-by. Anyone on a tight budget should aim to use the same company for both the design and the printing work as that is the best way to get a discount.

You can also use some of the same graphics for the leaflets and flyers you hand out during the day. There is nothing wrong with killing two birds with one stone, and in most instances, the imagery will work well. Just ensure that every large graphic contains:

  • Your logo
  • Your business motto
  • Your website address
  • Other contact details

Making the stall interactive

You’re living in the digital age, and so it’s wise to use technology as much as possible at trade shows. There are lots of ways in which you could approach that goal. However, most entrepreneurs choose to invest in iPads and other tablet devices for exhibitions. Load them with product catalogues or brochures that explain your services, and then fix them to the stall. Some attendees won’t want to hold lengthy conversations with your team members because they’re shy or in a bad mood. However, those folks will often find the time to stand around for ten minutes taking a look at one of your tablet devices. Other ways you could make the stall interactive include:

Link

Giving something away

Everyone likes getting something for free, right? Well, maybe you could use that psychological knowledge to ensure you make an impression on everyone who takes the time to attend the trade show. Giving something away that contains your logo, or alternative branding is a fantastic move that doesn’t have to break the bank. As mentioned earlier, promotional materials are essential for all exhibitions. So, why not take it a step further and create some goodie bags that people can take away? In those bags, you could place:

  • Branded stationery
  • Magazines
  • Music CDs
  • Mousemats
  • T-shirts
  • And pretty much anything else you like

Assessing the results

It’s critical that all entrepreneurs work out a method for evaluating the results from their trade show activities. The easiest way to do that is to ensure everyone at the event gets a discount code they can use on your website. You then just have to get the marketing guys to see how many individuals entered that code after a couple of weeks. That idea shouldn’t take too much time to arrange, and it’s quite useful. However, feel free to think outside of the box and develop a new concept. Just make sure that you have a way of working out how many attendees bothered to research your brand and spend money after the event. That way, it’s easy to perform a calculation and determine if the exhibition assisted your company in making a profit.

Now you know how to win at trade shows, nothing should stand in your way of success. Just remember the first point mentioned on this page before you rush into anything this year. If you fail to identify the most suitable events, you will always struggle to achieve the best results. In most instances, everything else relates to common sense and trial and error. So, now is the time to start the ball rolling and improve your business’s prospects in time for 2018. Good luck!

Employees Matter: How To Pay The Workforce When The Business Is Broke

File link

There is no doubt that a team of workers is essential to a company’s success. From increasing output to completing critical tasks, they are the lifeblood of the organization. In short, they help to dig a business out of a deep ditch and keep it on track.

The thing is employees won’t work for free. Even worse, a typical startup doesn’t make money for at least tent to eighteen months. The problem is finding the funding to ensure they stay at their desk and help the company through the complicated process.

Thankfully, there are solutions. Here’s how to pay the workforce when the business has no money.

Take Out A Loan

Normally, an organization doesn’t want to get involved with a bank, especially when said enterprise isn’t cash rich. The potential drawbacks are significant, yet it’s the only way to pay employee’s wage on time. Think of it as an investment where the loan is a stopgap until the money begins to roll through the door. By taking out an advance now, the business can turn a profit in the future. An excellent tip is to use p2plenders.co to avoid banks altogether. A peer-to-peer loan is an agreement between private lenders, which means the details tend to be favorable.

Offer Stake In Firm

The interest rates mean that a loan is going to be a risky option. Even if the employees make money, they have to make double to cover the overall costs. It’s for this reason that business owners offer employees a stake in the firm. The total amount might be less than 2% each, but it’s an offer of good faith. If the team believes the company is going to make it big, they might accept a percentage of the business. In the long-term, anyone with shares stands to make a killing. Usually, it’s a great way to offset a basic wage and appease employees.

Hire Interns

Paying employees nothing is the simple solution to this conundrum. However, it isn’t possible to pay people nothing for their time, right? Surely there are laws in place to prevent it from happening? Yes there are, but not for every worker on the spectrum. People who are young and want to gain experience, interns, generally work for free. By volunteering, they hope to gain experience and make contacts to further their career. They are hard workers who want to impress, and they don’t cost a penny.

Go Part-Time

Full-time workers demand a big salary. Part-time employees, however, cost half as much because they work less. The trick is to use a mixture of full-time and part-time employees in conjunction with interns. That way, the firm can avoid paying over the top for workers while maintaining a high standard. Also, it is possible to pay people for the work they complete. Marketing and sales people, for example, don’t get a basic wage but do take a cut of any sales.

Just because the firm is broke doesn’t mean it can’t afford a quality workforce.

“Pimp My Ride”: The Reality (And What You Should Do Instead)

Rusted Pickup Truck Abandoned Old Car Oldtimer

The starting point for “Pimp My Ride”

Pimp My Ride was a wildly successful TV show hosted by rapper Xzibit. It spawned the phrase “pimp my ride” to largely mean “improve my car in some way”– which is ironic, given what the TV show actually did to people’s cars. The premise of the show was simple; take a rusted, battered car and turn it into something showstopping.

While the show may be gone from the airwaves, it’s not been forgotten, especially by those who handed over their vehicles to the show. You may have watched a few episodes yourself and wondered how it was possible; perhaps even inspiring you to play with modifying your car. The next time you eye a modification and wonder if you should pimp your ride, it’s worth remembering what the phrase actually means– and why it was the beginning of a highway to hell for the owners featured on the show.

Pimp My Ride Rendered Cars Undriveable

Imagine what it’s like for the car owners of Pimp My Ride. They get the call to confirm they have been accepted for the show. They’re going to be on TV! Their not-so-great car is going to be given a dream makeover! What could possibly be more exciting?

Well, let’s go with “having a car that’s driveable”. That’s not particularly exciting for the most part; the majority of us automatically expect that our cars will be driveable, right? That’s their primary function, so why would someone who’d been featured on Pimp My Ride be excited about their car being driveable?

Because most of the “modified” cars that went through the show were rendered completely useless. Those that did get through their “pimping” and were still able to be driven were the lucky ones. It turns out if you add a huge stereo system to an old and rusted car, it doesn’t drive very well– who knew?

(Answer: everyone knew.)

Most Pimp My Ride Cars Were Illegal

If you’re driving and a car traveling in the opposite direction breaks the line and hits you, then that’s an annoyance. You have to deal with any potential injuries, learn more about the legalities of the situation, and deal with repairs to your vehicle. It’s an inconvenience, but you’re a reasonable person– accidents happen.

Now let’s say you’re driving and a car traveling in the opposite direction has an arcade machine, a TV, or any of the other “upgrades” offered by the show on board. Unsurprisingly, these mods have been distracting the driver. Are you still feeling reasonable about the crash? Or are you furious with the driver, the show, and law enforcement for allowing cars like this on the road? We’re betting the latter– and here’s the fun part: most of the modifications were completely  illegal. They were for the TV show only.

Former winners have explained how many of the modifications were removed pretty much as soon as filming finished.

Modifications Can Be Fun; But Not “Pimp My Ride” Fun

Adding modifications and upgrades to your car can be enjoyable and result in a better ride experience. However, Pimp My Ride is best looked back on as a work of fiction that was presented as reality. Fun, but not something any sensible driver would ever want to emulate!

It doesn’t seem everyone got the memo, though…

So, where does that leave the eager driving who wants to improve their car? By now, you know that the Pimp My Ride method of modification is definitely something that you’re going to want to avoid, so how can you modify your car without making the same mistakes?

Here are a few ideas that will give your car a touch of personality, without breaking the bank– or the law.

#1 – Go Crazy With Paint

The color of your car is one of the most expressive things about the vehicle. There’s a thousand and one pearl grey or metallic blue cars, so choosing anything remotely unusual will ensure your car is able to stand out from the crowd. You could go for an unusual single color, or paint entire intricate patterns if you have an artist’s touch.

There’s a fun upside to making your car’s paint more individual; it means your vehicle is less likely to be stolen. The reason behind this is simple; the more a car stands out, the more likely it is to be tracked by the police or owners. The common paint colors are far more likely to be stolen than more unusual colors, such as pink. So not only can you give your car an individual flair, but also help reduce the likelihood of theft, too.

#2 – Be Careful With The Sound System

Who needs a trunk when you can have volume?

One of the most common modifications that people do to their vehicles is to the sound system. Rather than the often-low-powered system that comes as a manufacturer’s default, people like to boost the sound with extra speakers and sound boosts.

That’s all well and good, but there’s a real risk to playing with the sound system of a car. First and foremost, you could invalidate your insurance. Changing the stereo of a car involves playing with the electronics, which can have a number of knock-on effects that make the car harder to drive. Insurers don’t like to insure cars that are harder to drive. If you do want to modify the sound system, it’s not a DIY job; ask a licensed professional to do the work, and inform your insurance as soon as it’s complete.

It’s also worth remembering that your car needs to fall within parameters of noise control and pollution. If you want to pump the volume in an isolated area, that’s fine, but in residential neighborhoods, you need to keep the volume turned way down.

#3 – Change The Upholstery

The upholstery is superficial, and you should be able to do whatever you want with it without causing an issue with your insurance. You could swap the fabric, install entirely new material, or use dyes to create a truly unique look. It won’t modify the way your car drives, but changing the upholstery does give a personal touch that can look incredible– definitely one of the easiest mods to DIY.

Have you ever been tempted to modify your car?

Reduce Your Road Rage

Source

We all have moments while driving that irritate us, no matter how good we think our driving is. It might be something that another driver does, the feelings of irritation we feel when we encounter roadworks, or just the simple fact of having a bad day coupled with negotiating busy roads. While we might all know in practice that cool heads should prevail when we’re behind the wheel, in practice, that’s not always the case.

If you find your irritation with other road users to be a frequent occurrence, then there’s a chance you’re suffering from road rage. While not a diagnosable medical condition, road rage is nevertheless a mental state that has the propensity to cause serious harm– to you, and other road users. Given that safety should be your number one priority every time you drive, it’s worrying to consider that road rage may make you less safe– so it’s definitely a topic worth diving further into.

Below, let’s explore some of the most common questions people have about road rage– and how you can manage yours, to ensure an extra layer of safety when you’re behind the wheel.

What Is Road Rage?

Road rage is a feeling of anger or frustration when driving. It is often explosive, resulting in serious altercations between motorists. There have even been murders attributed to road rage.

Road rage can be a chronic problem, which occurs every time you enter your car. Or it might be acute, only happening occasionally. Both are problematic, though there is a particular urgency to seek assistance if you have a chronic problem. Not only does road rage endanger you on the road, but constant exposure to stress could cause you real health problems in the future.

Why Does Road Rage Happen?

There are two possible reasons:

  1. The need for control that many people experience while driving can lead to road rage if something unexpected happens. People feel they have been threatened by another driver’s behavior and react disproportionately to the stimulus.
  2. Road rage is also a manifestation of fear when driving. For example, drivers get angry with cyclists, but it’s more from fear of causing harm than irritation.

Who Does Road Rage Happen To?

Anyone. Road rage is often seen as a male problem, but there are plenty of cases of female drivers engaging in typical road rage behaviors. Even if you’re the most placid person in the world, there’s still a chance you could succumb to road rage once behind the wheel.

What Situations Are Likely To Cause Road Rage?

Source

Roadworks are a major irritant for any driver, which can potentially put you in a bad enough mood to experience road rage. If roadworks tend to set your teeth on edge and make you drive more aggressively, then it’s worth going to the effort to modify your route until the work is complete.

The majority of road rage incidents involve the behavior of another driver. If you’re already in a bad mood — due to roadworks or just having a bad day — then another driver making an error can send you into a frenzy of annoyance. Being cut off, overtaken, or someone driving aggressively can be enough to make you see red. Other drivers ignoring stop signs or properly observing who has the right of way can also be triggered. Often, the event that causes the anger is relatively small, but is blown up out of proportion due to your existing irritation.

Sometimes, road rage doesn’t really have a cause; it’s just a driver in a bad mood, looking for somewhere to vent their frustrations. Driving when you’re in a bad mood is generally a terrible idea.

Why Is Road Rage Such A Bad Thing?

Being annoyed at something that happens while out on the roads is understandable, to an extent. If someone cuts you off or behaves in a way that you otherwise see as problematic, then your temper flaring may seem like a reasonable response to such a scenario.

However, there’s a huge problem lurking beneath this oh-so-justifiable response: the angrier we are, the less likely we are to pay attention to the road ahead. If you get distracted by swearing at another driver, then that means some of your attention is diverted from the road. All it takes is for your road rage to intersect with another driver not paying attention, and disaster happens. You could find yourself in need of a car accident lawyer to help unpick who is at fault for the damage of the resulting crash– because you were too distracted by anger to take evasive action regarding the other driver’s negligence. Road rage is literally that serious; if you fall victim to it often enough, then you’re going to increase your odds of being involved in a collision– endangering yourself and other road users.

How Do You Cure Road Rage?

There is no possible technique that can cure road rage instantly; the process of recovery tends to be more of a work in progress. If you want to try and manage your road rage yourself, then you’re going to need to investigate common anger management techniques and try to apply them to your own experience behind the wheel.

It’s also important to note that a lot of road rage is more a response to fear, rather than actual anger. If you feel uncomfortable while driving, or are not 100 percent sure of your skills, then these are issues you need to investigate. It might even be worth taking a few advanced driving lessons, which can help bolster your confidence and thus reduce your fear experiences while driving. This, in turn, should make you less likely to lose your temper in future– confidence and calmness have a tendency to go hand-in-hand.

If you ever experience road rage, then learning how to cope with the condition is vital. The angrier you get, the more likely it is that your frayed temper will be the cause of an accident. Acknowledging you have an issue with anger while driving is the first step that will eventually lead to a more careful, safer you.

Yes, You Can Go Green While Enjoying The Same Lifestyle

The once blue planet, the Earth, is on the verge of an environmental catastrophe. Our air is polluted; the wildlife is endangered, and some of our favorite resources are threatening to disappear. In fact, the green discourse that spreads across the planet is not another philosophical mindset: It’s an absolute necessity to maintain Life on the Earth. However, more often than not people can’t be bothered or are unsure how to take actions. Don’t be fooled into thinking that going green is an impossible sacrifice that will change your life forever. Going green is an effective way of improving the survival chances of all living creatures on Earth, but it doesn’t have to destroy the lifestyle you’ve created! Everything starts with a simple little step: Making way for sustainability in our lives. From reminding businesses of their responsibility to having an honest chat with your local authorities, you can do a lot to encourage others to embrace the green movement. But what we care in this article is what you can do yourself.

Going green to save wildlife

Does green living mean no tech?

There’s a common misconception that a green life is a life deprived of technology. Don’t just bin your smartphone now; you can keep a modern lifestyle while respecting the environment. There is no need to embrace an Edwardian existence and cut yourself off from any social and professional facility just to protect the planet. What matters, though, is to understand how modern waste, and especially electronic, can affect the environment — to find out more about electronics recycling – The Complete Guide from DRM can provide many answers to your questions. In other words, it’s not how you use modern items from plastic bottles to computers that plays a role; it’s how you dispose of them. Here’s a hint: Your old items can be recycled. Therefore, making an effort to bring unwanted items to recycling centers can make a great deal of difference to the wildlife.

Does green living mean no more car?

Most people think that going green is not for them because they can’t afford to live without a car. Nobody is expecting you to. But what you can do, though, is to pick a second-hand vehicle, because they have a reduced environmental impact compared to new cars that need to be produced and shipped. A Ford Focus from 2008 onward offers a perfect combination of reliability and low CO2 emissions. If you prefer a German make, the Polo (2005) is kind to the environment and the wallet. Alternatives to cars are public transports, cycling or directly working from home.

Does green living mean a less comfortable home?

Many believe that turning down the heater is the best way to save energy. But being cold and going green are two different things. Using green insulation – Popular Mechanics suggests easy ways to stay warm and eco-friendly. You can keep your heating low in winter and save energy by relying on polyurethane foam to keep the cold outside. It’s an ideal choice for basement and attic walls. Icynene is another excellent insulator that doesn’t only traps air but moisture too so that the home is warm and mold-free.

In the end, going green is easier than you think. Remember that even the smallest step can have a considerable impact on the environment. Saving the planet is not a life change, but it can change lives.

Bad Weather? Keep Your Sanity With These DIY Project Tips

It doesn’t take much to keep us indoors. Bad weather and wintry conditions quickly lead to boredom though. If you’re looking for something new to keep you occupied for the next few weeks, why not consider a DIY project? There are plenty of beginner projects you can start with, and there are even more if you’re up for a challenge. Here’s a guide to get you started even if the weather holds:

Ideas

The first thing you need is a source of ideas and inspiration. You might have a few jobs to do around the house. Putting up a picture hook and repairing the curtain rail is a bit boring though. What you want is something that makes life that little bit better! Maybe a new entertainment center? Or why not go all the way and create a man cave out of your spare bedroom?

Tools

Every good DIYer has all the tools they need. Of course, most of us just getting started have very little in the way of tools! You will need a good pair of screwdrivers, a weighty hammer, and a power drill. If you know you’re going to be doing some serious projects, you might want to opt for a hammer drill that can get through masonry as well as wood. Some of the better ones are reviewed at websites like https://bestofmachinery.com/best-hammer-drill/ You will also need a good measuring tape, a spanner set, and a saw.

Getting Started

Always sketch what you intend to build. And always triple check any measurements! If you’re buying wood or other materials, errors can be quite costly. Don’t be embarrassed to ask for an opinion on your ideas as you work. You never know – someone might see things in a different way that could spark your next big idea or improvement. Have a look at some images at places like  https://www.pinterest.com/amerifirst/pinterest-diy-home-improvements/ Finally, make a list of your work plan, so you don’t miss any crucial steps.

Putting It Together

It might take several steps to get to a point where you can see the fruits of your labor. Once it all comes together, you can start to pat yourself on the back, though! Most DIY projects are abandoned long before this point so well done you. Now, of course, you need to work on finishing it off and making it look really good. Helpful tools here include the paintbrush, the sandpaper, and the glue gun!

Didn’t Work Out?

So it didn’t quite go to plan? Don’t panic. Most projects are fixable even when they’ve gone horribly wrong. Keep your cool, take a step back and figure out where it went wrong. You might need to grab some more materials. You might need to grab a mate to help. You might even need to start over. All of this is about the learning curve, and sometimes that can be pretty steep. Don’t lose heart. You’ve got your tools, you’ve got some experience now, and you’ve got your good ideas.

Whatever you’ve been working on, and whatever you fancy trying next, don’t wait for bad weather to get started. You can enjoy all the delights of doing-it-yourself any time of the year. And then you can enjoy whatever it is you’ve built!
