When you think of Las Vegas, what comes to mind? Casinos? Shows? Nightlife such as a strip club? While all of those are certainly draws, there is much more to see and do in Sin City. There are a variety of hiking trails in the area, as well as opportunities for rock climbing and camping. Red Rock Canyon is the perfect place to get away from the city and enjoy nature. 1. Capable Transport

Let’s face it: the last thing you would do is traverse dirt tracks or snowy roads in rural locations in a small compact car. That’s why it makes sense to have the right vehicle before you embark on your journey into the backcountry.

No one wants to think about getting injured during a vacation. However, one fact you cannot avoid is that it sometimes happens. For that reason, you should take a first aid kit with you in case of any emergencies.

Whether you purchase a pre-packaged one or you create it yourself, your first aid kit should have all the essential items you need to tend to any minor injuries.

5. Appropriate Clothing And Footwear

Last but not least, you will need to pack suitable clothing and footwear for your vacation to the backcountry. For example, if you’re going to a snow-covered location, you shouldn’t wear shorts and a t-shirt during the day!

Always research the likely weather conditions and temperatures when you wish to go and pack clothing and footwear appropriate to those conditions and temperatures.

When it’s raining, often you can’t do very much because many activities rely on being outside. Whistler, BC however isn’t one of these, though, because there are activities that you can still enjoy when it is raining. We don’t mean white water rafting necessarily, when you would hardly notice because of how wet you will get anyway, but non-water activities.

In this article, we will take a look at what you might describe as Whistler Rain activities. These are primarily indoor activities, although an activity such as bungee jumping is possible still, no matter how bad the weather. It depends how much you are thinking about the view when you take that leap of faith towards the river.

Brewery Visit

There is a brewery at Whistler that you can visit and taste beer at. This can take place on a rainy day when it is not much fun outside. This is also perfect for other events such as a bachelor party.

The brewery at Whistler will allow you to enjoy craft beer. Anyone into specialty beers and different beers from around the world will consider this heaven on Earth.

Why not explore the Canadian Craft Whistle Brewery Tour? This will take care of a few hours and be a pleasurable experience, that will seem more educational to talk about when you get back home, yet will still have provided you with a great day out accompanied with the taste of beer.

If you enjoy brewery visits back home, then this will be another one to tick off your list. Otherwise, it can be a different experience, that combines a love of beer with some history of the drink. If you like beer, it is enjoyable to sample different kinds and compare their tastes. There is a lot of science behind brewing a good beer.

Escape Room

To escape outside, Whistler can offer a room where lots of dry activities can take place. Okay, they may require brainpower, but then so would a pub quiz back home, in keeping with the thought of beer above.

In all, there are four different types of adventures that you can go on in groups of between two and six people. This means that when you have a larger group, you can split into smaller groups and enjoy activities with fewer people. Sometimes, otherwise, you can find a group too large to have fun and interact with everyone.

When you sign up for this activity, it will become clear just what escape rooms are all about. You will have to solve clues to escape each room within a 45-minute time frame. The clues might be in the form of riddles or puzzles. Either way, it is your task, within your group, to solve them. This makes it important to mix your teams up, in terms of intelligence or depending on how they think, whether that be in a logical way or not. This will be easier when you know the people you’re with well.

With escape rooms on offer at Whistler, we can escape from what we are used to and start relaxing within our friendship or family group that we choose to take away with us. Solving clues can be fun.

Indoor Ice Experience

Why not take your interest in snow or ice indoors. You can, for instance, enjoy skating on the indoor ice rink. Skates are there to be rented, or you could bring your own that you are used to. Canadians lover skating, and you could join them in that at Whistler.

There is more than one rink at Whistler, so you should find space to skate. This is whether you head for Whistler Olympic Plaza or the Meadow Park Sports Centre.

Figure skating or ice hockey can be played on the ice rinks at Whistler.

You do not need to get wet if you do not want to when Whistler allows you to carry on enjoying yourself indoors in your party group. If you are not partaking in the above activities, then you could always make your way to Dusty’s Bar and Grill. There is nothing like a good steak and the drinks that can accompany it.

 The summer and wintertime are the two biggest times of the year where everyone is out traveling. Whether it’s visiting family, going on vacation, or celebrating holidays in a fun way. Regardless of what your travel plans are, one thing that you cannot neglect no matter where you’re at in the world would be your oral hygiene. Traveling tends to mean that people let their health slack off a bit. This can include not brushing your teeth enough, eating more junk food than usual, less sleep, consuming alcohol, and moving around a lot less. Oral health is what tends to be neglected the most! These tips will help you stay on top of your oral hygiene when traveling.

Keep a close eye on your toothbrush

Believe it or not, your toothbrush needs to have some ventilation. Most of those toothbrush holders that people pack when traveling tend to not have air holes. Your toothbrush will stay moist which can grow bacteria such as mold. If your toothbrush needs to be enclosed, try to keep it in a larger container, and maybe even leave it out on the counter when not in use. Having to throw out your toothbrush because it smells bad or looks molded is not a good way to start a vacation.

Look at what your mouth needs before traveling

If you’re having to travel, it’s best to try to take care of some things before traveling, especially if you think you’ll be gone for a while. If you’ve been looking into getting full-mouth dental implants, then it’s best to jump-start this far in advance before your big adventure. But this can go for anything dental or health-related really. You want to make sure you feel like you’re in tip-top shape before exploring the world.

Think about the way you sleep

Cut down on sugar

When it comes to trips, it’s always tempting to just want to eat and drink whatever you like. It’s completely understandable too. Having the opportunity to travel means you’re getting to try new things, eat foods you usually don’t have the chance to do, and just allow yourself to indulge in the finer things in life in general.

This is all fine, but you should try to cut down on it a bit. Junk food, alcohol, basically, those unhealthy things are okay as long as it’s in moderation. Sugar-loaded treats do a lot of harm to your teeth, gums, not to mention your immune system too. So if you want to avoid tooth decay, just consume these things in moderation.

Drink healthy

If all possible, look into drinking things that are good for your health and teeth. As stated above, sugar can be harmful to your teeth and immune system. So try to drink water, green tea, and avoid drinks that will state your teeth such as coffee. You can even look into getting a teeth whitening kit to help you out.

Make sure you have your paperwork in order

Before traveling anywhere overseas, you should make sure that you have all of the right documents that you need. The most important of these is, of course, the passport. It will also give you enough time to adequately pack the right clothes and make arrangements for passports if necessary. To make sure you don’t forget anything, use a list. Also, observe your partner’s routines for ideas on what to pack for them. 

Decide When to Reveal the Surprise

You can wait until you get to the airport to reveal the surprise or an hour before leaving the house. Alternatively, wait until you’re already at the hotel or destination. However, you’ll have to cook up a convincing reason to make your partner leave the house voluntarily.

World Class Transport System: Why Singapore Among the Best In The World

Changi Airport may have fallen from the top spot in the “World’s Best Airports” for 2021, but their public transport system stays on top. In a report by consulting firm McKinsey, in which public transports from 24 cities were compared, Singapore prevailed in most categories. A US-based travel website, Far & Wide, also ranked Singapore’s public transport top in the world.

But the capital city’s public transport system wasn’t always the best. Before it attained world-class status, Singapore only had a small transportation unit within the Public Works Department (PWD). It was the only agency that oversaw the development in public transportation. Back then, there were no trains yet, only buses that worked independently from each other.

In the 1980s, plans for a Mass Transit System (MRT) were introduced, as well as those for major expressways. SMRT, which would be Singapore’s leading public transport operator, was founded in 1987. Since then, Singapore’s transportation system developed, outperforming other countries’ public transport. Until now, it’s still developing, and SMRT continues to improve passengers’ commuting experience.

Below are some facts about Singapore’s public transport that makes it the best:

It’s Affordable

In McKinsey’s report, Singapore clinched the top spot in public transport affordability. Far & Wide praised Singapore for the same reason. Compared with the public transport rates of Madrid ($13) and London ($22), Singapore only charges $10 to its tourists. That’s already for unlimited bus and train rides. Hong Kong, which also charges $10 to tourists, was still outperformed by Singapore. That’s because Hong Kong charges children aged 3 to 11 around $5, while Singapore gives free rides to kids under 0.9 meters tall.

This major step toward affordability was made in 2013. In addition to the $10 fee for tourists, Singapore also discounted the fares for low-wage workers. They now pay 15% less of the regular fare. More than one million passengers benefited from this new scheme.

It’s Efficient and Safe

Singapore’s public transport takes efficiency to a new level. They don’t require their passengers to line up for tickets. Instead, they created EZ-link card, which allows passengers to connect to a public transport app. There, they can plan their trips and view ticketing options.

This incredible efficiency made Singapore’s public transport more sustainable. When you walk into any of their train platforms, you’d never see a single piece of discarded tickets anywhere. Their dependence on technology allowed them to produce less waste, and their passengers more satisfied.

Superb safety is another reason passengers love Singapore’s public transport. You can wait for your train with your phone out, and no one would bother you. That’s why even rich Singaporeans don’t hesitate to commute.

No Increase in Rates During the Pandemic

Under normal circumstances, public transport fares in Singapore should’ve increased by up to 4.4%. But the pandemic happened, so the Public Transport Council (PTC) decided to postpone the fare hike. PTC chairman Richard Magnus noted that the council recognises the exceptional circumstances Singaporeans faced. As such, they considered the impact it will have on commuters, and decided not to increase the fares to ease the commuters’ burden.

In addition, up to 2 million Singaporeans will continue to enjoy concessionary fares. And even though public transport ridership fell during the circuit breaker period, services were maintained at pre-pandemic levels, allowing commuters to travel safely and hassle-free.

The council also funded cleaning regimes to minimize the risks of spreading COVID-19 on public transport. It didn’t result in pre-pandemic ridership levels, but the council said they were expecting government subsidies to make up for their losses. True enough, in 2020, the government was expected to spend nearly $1 billion for renewing and upgrading rail operating assets, and another $1 billion for bus services yearly for the next five years.

Singaporeans are lucky to have competent public transport operators and a council. They continuously find ways to improve their services, even if they’re already considered world-class. They never take shortcuts when it comes to efficiency. When the pandemic ends, it won’t be surprising if travelers flock Singapore the first chance they get. They’d feel safe and well-taken of in any of their public transport vehicles.
