  1. Get Your Home Ready Slowly

It takes time to get a house warm for the winter months. You may want to crank up the heating and sit in the warmth, but it’s not the way to get your home ready for those temperatures outside the house. You need to consider the pipes and the outdoor faucets, as they can crack if they’re not adequately prepared. The house has to be ready for the cold and that means keeping your thermostat gradually warmer each day until it’s in the right bracket for the colder winds. Allowing your body to adjust is as important as allowing the house to do so, too. You can also seal up the windows properly and prevent any winds streaming through.

  1. Update Your Tow Numbers

If you are used to calling in tow companies for the snow, consider checking all of the numbers that you have so that you have a company that can take on any car, truck or even semis in the road! You want to make sure that you don’t get stuck in the snow, so your car needs to be loaded with these phone numbers of the right people to help if you do get caught!

  1. Sort Your Pest Control

During the summer, mice, rats and other pests can take refuge in your attic and basement. In the winter, you want to get rid of these pests once and for all. It’s so tempting for creepy crawlies to get into the house and get comfortable, but you can use the time now to get your pest control sorted out. From rodent traps to the sprays and powders for ants and other bugs. Prevention is better than cure and you need to take preventative measures as early in the season as possible.

  1. Upgrade Your Hardware

Outdoor hardware needs to be upgraded for your house for the winter. You wouldn’t have the right essentials indoors: milk and bread, blankets and torches, matches and more – without the outdoor hardware. You need to make sure that you have sidewalk salt, snowblowers, rakes and shovels for snow, de-icing equipment and more. You want to be able to tackle the frost and ice properly and you can do that with the right outdoor equipment!

  1. Call In The Chimney Sweeps

Do you have an old-fashioned chimney in your home? You need to call in the experts to clean the flue and get rid of any obstructions. When you do this, you can avoid any carbon monoxide poisoning risks. While you’re there, you should check the fire alarms and carbon monoxide alarms, too. These will alert you to any issues that may occur and keep you and your family as safe as possible.

  1. Don’t Freeze The Pipes

You read earlier that you should prepare the pipes for the winter months, and you absolutely should. Burst pipes that are explosive due to frozen water through them and the last thing you need is to have to pay for a plumber to fix it all when they bust. Instead, prevention is another step to take here and your pipes will be better if you call in a plumber before the season begins. You should also check your sprinkler systems and your hoses to know if there is any risk of them bursting, too.

  1. Get The Car Ready

You’re going to be on the road in the winter, too, and that means that you need to get the car as ready as you would your house. Top off the tank, check the fluid lines, deice the windows and pretreat the locks so that they don’t get stuck. It could be the difference between life and death if you don’t get your car winter ready, so make sure that you fulfil everything that you can do for your car in the winter, including winterizing the tyres and making sure that they have the right tread and depth. While you wait for a tow out of the snow, you can enjoy your emergency bag you kept in the trunk of the car, which should include snacks!

  1. Prepare Your Mind

SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder – is a very real thing and you want to prepare your mind for a bout of depression and hope to keep it at bay. Winter is notorious for sickness and illness, and if you have the flu shot, you can help your body to feel well. Winter requires prevention and your body is as much in need of it as anything in the house. You can limit your time spent indoors and try to get into the sun as much as possible. You have to plan and prepare yourself for the colder months, and that involves you, too!

  1. Batten Down The Hatches

Get the screen doors and window screens updated where possible so that you are going to be protected from the strong winds and rain. You want to ensure that your house is a castle for the winter weather to bypass, not destroy! These nine things will get you ready for winter – what else can you do to make life easy?

In the past automation has been praised for making people’s lives easier, but at the same time, it has been criticised for taking people’s jobs. However, since the coronavirus outbreak, automation is something that has been implemented for many businesses as adopting this technology has been the only way some businesses have been able to keep going and for people to feel safe. If you want your business to survive this difficult time and you also want to stay ahead of the competition, then it’s time to embrace automation in your business.

Automation Improves Organisation

Automation doesn’t just mean robots and self-scanning, but it can also help you to organise your business to help manage your files, do your accounts, delegate tasks and generally reduce errors and increase efficiency in your business. Tools such as Slack can help you sort through your overflowing email inbox and can streamline communication between team members. It is a powerful automation tool that many businesses are using as an alternative to traditional email as conversations are threaded like a chat window and visible by other people in your organisation.

Automation Increases Accountability

Whether its AGV automation in manufacturing or using social media scheduling tools in marketing, automation means that there is a digital trail for everything that goes on within the company. It means that things are very rarely lost or misplaced, and there is increased accountability for everyone across all the different systems.

Automation Saves Time

Many of the things that take up the most time in your company are the ones that are easy to do and don’t require much skill but still have to be done and are incredibly time-consuming. Think about those filing tasks or those jobs like putting all your business card contacts’ details on a spreadsheet. Menial jobs like these are essential, yet they take you or your employees away from doing the things that they are good at and are best used for. You can save so much time on manual, repeatable tasks by implementing automation tools within your company.

Automation Will Get You More Sales

Whether it’s sending automatic personalised emails to your customers or targeting your customers with other products that you think they might like, there are a number of ways to use automation to increase sales, so why wouldn’t you use them? Using tools such as Salesforce which can enhance your digital presence and marketing campaigns as well as integrates with hundreds of third-party business apps.
Automation tools come in a variety of options and for all areas of business, so while you don’t have to use them all, it would be a good idea to have a look at them all and see which would be the most beneficial to your business, to your customers, to your employees and to you. Do your customers need an automatic email to feel acknowledged? Do your employees need you to implement automatic emails to free up some of their time? Or do you need a tool to sort through your cluttered inbox and to feel less stressed and to have more time to focus on what is important? Whatever it is, there is a tool for you, and it will make your life far easier and your business more successful.
