While The Kids Are Away, The Parents Will Play…

Pixabay

Once you become a parent, your life becomes entirely focused on your kids. This isn’t a bad thing, of course, as kids can bring us plenty of joy and happiness. But there will be some times when you wish that you had a bit more time to yourself to do all the stuff you used to do before the little ones arrived on the scene.

So, there really is no wonder that most parents jump at the chance of some time to themselves when their kids go away. Whether they are just away for one night at a friend’s slumber party or for a week or so at summer camp, it’s really worth jumping on this chance to do your own thing for a few days.

Feeling a bit lost with all of this spare time you now have? Here are some great ideas of things that you and your partner might want to get up to – they range from practical things that you might have meant to do for some time to fun things that you wouldn’t normally get the chance to do with the kids in tow!

Pixabay

Sort Out Your Taxes

There’s no denying that things can get very hectic when you have to balance your work life and looking after the kids. There can be hardly any time to grab a quick cup of coffee as you browse the day’s headlines in the newspaper! So, how on earth are you ever going to find the time to get your taxes in order? Instead of letting all of your filing build up until it becomes a big rush right before the deadline, it’s a good idea to sort out your paperwork on days you don’t have the kids. Even if that means doing a little bit at odd times throughout the year, it will still cut down on how much work you have to do right before the final filing deadline!

Pixabay

Kickstart Your Job Hunt

Have you been thinking about looking for a better job lately? Maybe one that can offer you more responsibility and a better wage, or perhaps just one that will give you more free time with the kids? No matter how desperate you are to find a new job, you might find that the search is almost impossible when you have to spend so much time taking care of the kids. So, now that they aren’t around, you will easily be able to dedicate a couple of hours to your job hunt. Even if you aren’t particularly interested in finding a new job right now, you might find it very useful to use all of this new spare time to update your resume so that it is good to go when you are ready.

Conquer The Clutter

Kids left the house in a complete mess? No problem – you’ll have plenty of time to get everything back in order while they are away for a few days! Take a look through all of your belongings and think about which ones you could do without. You might want to consider taking these to a charity shop or recycling them. Now is also a great time to do some deep cleaning in those problem areas like your kitchen and bathroom. It’s worth taking as much as possible out of these rooms and really getting into every nook and cranny to remove any dirt and grime. It’s a great idea to get all of this clean before the kids get back as you will be able to use some really strong cleaning products without worrying about harming your children.

Pixabay

Take Advantage Of The TV

Do you never get to watch anything because your kids are always hogging the TV? Well, now is your chance to lie back on the sofa and indulge in whatever it is you’ve been missing out on! You might even want to treat yourself to a new Netflix or Amazon Prime package so that you have more shows and movies to choose from. It’s worth taking a look at Suddenlink for more ideas of the different internet and streaming packages you can treat yourself to. Seeing as the kids won’t be around, you can binge watch all the shows and movies that aren’t suitable for young eyes!

Pixabay

Go To The Movies

But why stay in when you don’t have the kids to look after? You don’t even have to go to all the bother of trying to find a babysitter. So, it’s the perfect chance to have a movie night with your partner. Why not turn it into a nice little date night and for a meal and drinks before or after the film? No matter what your taste in movies is, I’m sure you will be able to find one to suit you. There’s always a wide range of Hollywood blockbusters and smaller, independent productions out in the cinema.

Pixabay

Finish Your Book

Another thing that some parents regularly complain about is that they never get much chance to finish a book that they start reading. It can be quite easy to make time for reading if you are really dedicated – one option you have is to take a book to bed with you and read it before you turn the lights out, for example. But now that the kids are away for a couple of days, you will have plenty of time to get stuck into a good book throughout the day and evening. Once you get back from the office, you can make yourself a cup of tea and snuggle under a blanket on the sofa with that book that you’ve been trying to finish for ages.

Pixabay

Cook Your Favorite Meals

We all know just how picky some kids can be. Whether they are pushing their broccoli away or screwing up their face at the sight of mushrooms, there are a whole load of different foods that some kids won’t touch, no matter how hard you try to persuade them. Do you find that your picky kids mean that you have to restrict the meals and dishes that you cook and serve up for mealtimes? Well, if that is the case, then you will be very happy while the kids are away as you will be able to cook whatever you and your partner want! You’ll be able to add a lot more spice to dishes and you will also be able to be exotic when it comes to your ingredient choices. After all, you won’t have any pick taste buds turning their noses up at your food!

Give Something Back

It’s always good to give something back to society and your local neighborhood, especially if they have really helped you out previously when you were going through a difficult period. And there is no better way to give something back than by volunteering and getting stuck in with a local good cause. Some parents would love to do this more but they just don’t get the chance to with all of their responsibilities back at home. But now that you no longer have to worry about looking after the kids for a few days, you can think about spending a few hours volunteering with a charity of your choice. You might even like the idea of holding your very own fundraising event to try and raise as much cash as possible for a charity of good cause.

Pixabay

Connect With Loved Ones

When we are busy we also forget to keep in touch with our nearest and dearest. Even if we don’t forget, it can be pretty tricky trying to find the time to pick up the phone or write someone a quick email. It’s really worth thinking about who you haven’t been in touch with for a while and righting that wrong now that you don’t have the kids to distract you. Just think of how long you could spend on the phone to one of your besties who you haven’t spoken to for a few months – I’m sure that you will have loads of stuff to catch up on! This free time also gives you a chance to clear out your work inbox. Are there a few people who you should have replied to by now? Well, now is your chance to do that! And it also gives you a chance to clear out any junk and spam from your inbox. By the time the kids get back, your inbox should be at zero emails.

Pixabay

Rekindle Romance

It can be difficult to keep the spark in your relationship alive when you have to focus on the kids. Now that the kids aren’t around for a few days, you can work on rekindling your romance with your partner. All it’ll take is a couple of date nights and cozy evenings snuggled up on the sofa.

Hopefully, this long list will keep you occupied while you don’t have any kids to look after! You might enjoy this spare time so much that you start to send them away more often!

Do Unto Others: Happiness in Helping

https://unsplash.com/photos/cAtzHUz7Z8g

Helping other people is the noblest of causes. Taking time out of your day to help friends, family, and strangers is something that we all tell ourselves we will do, but so few of us actually do. But the opportunities are out there, no matter where in the world you may live.

There are a plethora of options available for those who want to do more to help their fellow humans. Enriching other people’s lives will help them, as well as yourself. The positive effect that philanthropy has on our mental health is well documented, and so, in a world awash with inequality, doing your part to aid the less fortunate is something that will benefit everybody.

SOCIAL WORK

Going into the world of social care is an admirable endeavour. Often, you are working with those who have mental health problems, the poor, and sometimes the dangerous. Before starting, it is wise to look into obtaining an online MSW, to adequately prepare you for what many believe to be a thankless occupation.

Only, it isn’t a thankless occupation. There will be times where you get screamed at, called names and generally treated not very nice. But keeping your head up and knowing that you are doing this for the greater good is a reward all in itself.

VOLUNTEERING

Work for free, are you mad? No, actually, not at all. Volunteering can be done anywhere, anytime, whether it be at an animal shelter, homeless shelter or ever travelling abroad to build a school in a third world country.

Sure, you don’t get paid, but that isn’t the point. You are in this to help others, not boost up your bank account. You can find local or worldwide volunteering networks online with a quick search and start to give back. Along the way, you might be surprised at what wonderful, interesting people you meet and gain a broader perspective of the world. While you may not be rich in cash, your wealth will be overflowing with good vibes and experience.

DONATIONS

If you don’t have the time to volunteer or obtain a new qualification, you can always find the time to donate to local or national causes. Organisations such as charities are the obvious option, but also consider food banks and clothing donations.

Furthermore, you can set up payment plans to donate to wildlife or environmental conservation, as well as medical research to battle the most devastating of diseases. It doesn’t matter where you donate to, as long as you do it. Although, some charities are less transparent than others, so it pays to do your research and ensure your money is going where you want it to.

The happiness to be found in helping others is unlike any other sort of happiness in life. Taking just a bit of money out each week to help save the planet or those in need, donating old clothes that otherwise would rot in the attic, or going that extra mile to engage and support are all admirable. You have been gifted with a good life; it’s not too much to ask to help make someone else’s life just as good, also.

So You’re Teaching Your Son or Daughter To Drive

It’s always an exciting time when a young son or daughter is entering adulthood. They have their whole life ahead of them, and you’ll be on hand to help them navigate their way through this murky world. When they reach the right age, you might be the first driving teacher they have, showing them the basics and getting them ready to hit the road for good. Below, we take a look at a few essential tips you’ll need to consider to ensure it doesn’t end in one big family screaming match.

Source: Pexels.com

Ready When They Are

There might be a driving age, but that doesn’t mean that everyone has to buckle up and begin driving the second they reach that age! There should never be any pressure to get behind the wheel. If there is, then the lessons will be pointless; the child will be too nervous to absorb the information they’re receiving. Of course, it’s OK to give a person a gentle nudge in the right direction, but if they’re really resistant, then listen to them and postpone the lessons until they’re ready.

You’re a Coach, not a Parent

You’ll have taught your son or daughter many life lessons over the years; that’s what good parenting is! But things are a little bit different when it comes to learning to drive. Behind the wheel, things can get dangerous, and as such you need to be more in the mindset of a coach than a parent. Your son or daughter is going to freak out at some point, and when they do, you need to be a calming voice that’ll tell them what to do. In any case, what teenager listens to their parents? Take the “I’m a coach” route!

Starting Small

Driving a car might be the easiest thing in the world to you, but then again, you know how to do it. For someone who has never been in the driver’s seat, it’s like walking on the moon. Nothing makes sense. As such, it’s imperative that you take things slowly and just start small. With things like this, progress is always made inch by inch. And when it comes to driving, that’s probably quite literal: they’ll only be driving a few inches at a time!

Prepare for Things to Go Wrong

Of course, you hope that everything runs smoothly. But the fact is that every time anyone gets behind the wheel, there’s the possibility that something might go wrong. Make sure you know what you’ll do if you’re involved in an accident when you’re teaching your son or daughter to drive. This will mean staying calm, making sure everyone is OK, and checking out https://www.robinettelaw.com/west-virginia/morgantown-car-accident-injury-attorney/ to assess your legal options. As ever, it always pays to hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

Teaching about the Vehicle

When you’re teaching someone to drive, it’s not just about making sure they know how to operate the vehicle. It’s about teaching them about the vehicle; how it works, how to fix things, and all the other aspects of car ownership. You might think that it’s obvious how to turn the lights of a car on, but to someone who has never driven a car before, it can be a complete mystery. Additionally, make sure they know how to check and change the essential fluids, turn on windscreen wipers, and what to do if they’re driving in adverse weather conditions.

Time for Expert Advice

Alas, all good things must come to an end. You might think that you’re a wonderful driving instructor, and you might be, but if your son or daughter is going to pass their test, then eventually they’ll need to get help from a professional. You’ll have picked up bad driving habits during your time on the road, and as such you’re unlikely to know how to pass a test. But hey, don’t be too upset: you’ll have played a big role in getting your child on the road!

Make it Fun

It’s easy to get stressed when you’re in a vehicle with a person who has never driven before. And make no mistake: driving is serious business, and you should treat it as such. However, like in every other aspect of life, there’s also the possibility to make it fun, too. Wherever possible, adopt a relaxed attitude and try to be an inspiring teacher to your child.

With a bit of luck, your son or daughter will become a terrific drive, and it’ll be in part thanks to your guidance.

Novel Ways To Make A Good First Impression

Whether it is for a job interview, to meet someone on a date, or anything in between, making a good first impression is hugely important. It is something that a lot of people struggle with, but the truth is that it is relatively easy to do. As long as you are aware of some of the basic things that people might pay attention to when they meet you, you can ensure that their first impression of you is a good one. Form that day onwards, you will then have a much better relationship with that person, whether it is professional or a private one. Let’s look at some of the novel ways you can make a good first impression.

First impressions are hard to get right – Image Source

Arrive In Style

If it is going to be a situation where there is a possibility they will see you arrive, then you will benefit greatly from being sure to arrive in style. However you will be arriving, make sure that you have thought about it beforehand so you can put some real effort into it. If you are driving, you should make sure that you have recently washed your vehicle with a popular car shampoo, and perhaps even waxed it too. You would be amazed at how paying attention to these details can make a huge difference. If you are walking, then it is a good idea to make sure you are doing so with confidence – which takes us to the next point.

Show Confidence

The most important thing of all is that you display a good deal of confidence as you enter the situation. As long as you do that, you will find that you immediately make a good impression. If you are someone who routinely struggles with feeling confident, then you might want to look into some of the things you can do to improve that. As it happens, it’s relatively straightforward, even if it is also something of a learning curve. The simple acts of standing up straight and looking people in the eye will make a huge difference. Elsewhere in your life, the more that you actively approach and tackle your fears head-on, the more likely it is that you will feel confident going into new situations, so that is worth remembering too.

Confidence wins people over – Image Source

Be Friendly & Personable

No matter the situation or what you need to get from it, being friendly and approachable is going to be a huge step forward in giving a great first impression. Use their name (to show you are really listening) and ask them questions about themselves. Show real interest, and you will find that people relax around you and enjoy your company all the more. The friendlier you are, the more people will want to spend time with you. If at first you find it difficult to maintain the energy for this kind of approach, try to take it in small steps. This will eventually lead you to being a much more confident interpersonal talker.

Sage Advice for Growing Old ‘Gracefully’

Growing old is often no easy thing and there are so many people telling how to do it, and how to do it right. In reality, there is no right way to grow old, and different things work for different people. Here are some tips, and things to try, not to grow old gracefully, but making the most of it. With pensions and retirement comes more free time, so you are able to try and do things that you might not have been able to ten or twenty years ago. So make the most of it!

Getting Fit

Staying fit can be difficult to do when you have a full-time job, but being retired means you have time to keep fit and keep active. This is some advice that is always given to you as you grow older, but it is something that everyone should try and do at every age. Using your body will keep it in tip-top condition for years to come, so you are able to do what you what, when you want, well into the future, and who doesn’t want to look good?

Trying New Things

Many people might be old and have lots of habits and ideas that they won’t grow out, but why not challenge yourself to trying something new? Why not try swimming if you haven’t before, or get some adrenaline rushing with a poker game? Perhaps you can try that photography class that you wanted to try when you were younger, or you could become a life drawing model? There are lots of things to get involved with now you have the time, and hopefully some more resources than you did, than when you have a young family to raise. Now you can spend money on yourself, your own interests, and do as you please, without answering anyone.

Covering Your Bases

Now, so much strange advice and propaganda is marketed toward the older generation, and while you don’t have to start planning your own funeral  just yet, it’s good to be smart about these choices. Looking after yourself, and even your partner, can require some difficult decisions and swallowing your pride at times. If you think you might need a medical alert system, like Alert-1 for example, or you  just want to be on the safe side, invest in one. If a mobility scooter or walking stick might be of use to you, get one! There are so many things to make your life easier and safer to live, so if something might be of use to you, there’s no harm in trying it out.

Spending Time With the Family

This is an obvious one, but if you have more time on your hands, this is great time to spend with your family. Appreciating your loved ones is one of the best pastimes out there.

Growing old gracefully can be done in lots of different ways. It’s a time to grow, challenge yourself, and try new things. All the best for the adventures you’re yet to have!

Young At Heart: Have More Fun With Your Senior Family Members

The elderly and more senior members of your family have probably helped to shape the person you are today, and you’ll appreciate all they’ve done for you in the past. When your relatives start to age; the roles within the family can begin to change, and you may have to become more of the caregiver, rather than the receiver. It can be challenging for senior citizens to deal with getting older; they can still feel sharp of mind and young at heart, but due to age, they may not have the mobility and abilities that they used to. Reduced mobility and various health issues associated with the ageing process can begin to take its toll on a person’s quality of life and their wellbeing.

However, as a senior’s family member; you can impact their way of life for the better, and ensure they are living a fulfilled and satisfying lifestyle every day. It might take a little time and effort, but you can bring positivity, joy, and excitement back into your loved one’s days, weeks, and months. Therefore, it’s worth thinking about the little and bigger things that you and the rest of your family can do to help, assist, and benefit your elderly relatives. The following are some ideas., inspiration, and tips for those who want to keep their loved ones young at heart and enjoying their life as much as possible.

Keeping Up Their Lifestyle

You’ll have your own life to lead and a family to look after, so you can’t be expected to look after your senior family member all of the time. If tasks, like visiting the store, or driving to the doctors, become too difficult for your loved one; it might be worth looking into services like https://seniorsforseniors.ca/services who can provide as much care and assistance as your relative needs. Someone to help them with their day-to-day activities will keep up their way of life as well as providing vital companionship so that they never feel lonely.

A Few Of Their Favorite Things

One of the hardest thing that seniors will have to cope with is not being able to enjoy their favorite activities. Therefore, you can do your best to take your loved one out and about to keep experiencing all the things they love. It might just be the case that they can’t do things a lone, so your company will make a huge difference. Check out some ideas here: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/senior-citizen-activities and make a list of things you can do together on a regular basis. Take them to watch their favorite sports game, bond over lunch in their favorite diner as you listen to stories from their past, or go and see a movie together. The contact and company will give your relative a huge boost, and there’s nothing like a walk down memory lane to keep them feeling young, joyful, and even playful at times. Think about all the things that they’ve done for you in the past; now it’s time to return the love and ensure they’ve living life to the fullest.

Let Them Know with a Thank You!

Pexels Image

In a conversation I recently had, one of the other people involved mentioned that they hadn’t received any acknowledgement from someone they’d sent a gift to, and remarked how people don’t write thank you notes any more.

This is a good point. I always acknowledge when someone gives me a gift, and, if it was something sent to me rather than given in person, I also let the other person know. It’s just common courtesy. And it doesn’t take long. But even if it does, as when you’ve had a major event, such as a big birthday, wedding, baby or wedding shower, etc., one should still take the time to send everyone who gave a gift or sent a gift, some kind of acknowledgement of thanks! It let’s the giver know that you appreciate the fact that they honored your milestone by giving a gift.

Pexels Image

When someone sends you a gift, especially if its money, do let them know that you received it. In addition to acknowledging their gift, you also let them know that the gift isn’t lost in the mail or that check they sent isn’t winding up in the wrong hands. You owe them that much, at least!

So, you may be thinking that writing thank you notes is old-fashioned and takes too much time. But remember, those who gave you gifts also took the time to get you that gift. And they had to think of what to get you, as well!

Pexels Image

However, while some people think that only a hand-written note is acceptable, I beg to disagree. It’s the acknowledgement of the gift and the thanking of the giver that’s important. An email, phone call, or even a text message at least lets the giver know that you’re acknowledging their gift.

Having said that, if you know that your closer or elder relatives or close family friends prefer the hand written thank you note, then it’s best to accommodate them. And, if you do leave a message, it’s still best to follow-up and thank them in person or over the phone.

But, in any event, do make the effort to thank those who send you gifts, and do it in a timely manner. Others will take positive note of your efforts and you’ll be glad you did.

5 Ways To Improve Yourself In Your Spare Time

As people, we love to grow. From childhood, to teenager, to adult, we grow physically, but as humans we love to grow personally. We are a species that pushes the boundaries to learn new things about the world, each other and the way things work. The digital age has rushed upon us and we are making new discoveries all the time thanks to the developments in technology and the web. It makes sense that while we are developing and improving everything from the mattresses we sleep on, to the televisions we watch, that we want to add ourselves into the mix.

The human potential can often feel limitless and when you know how to push your own boundaries, you can really harness and maximise your own personal growth. Improving yourself doesn’t just mean within business, although it’s a good place to start and build your confidence. Your personal wellbeing and relationships matter, too, and if you are spending time working on your own development, you can become a happier, more secure individual. We’ve put together five ways you can use your personal time to work on yourself and make improvements in your self-esteem.

  • Learn More. When you are working hard in your career, you can often forget your overall goals or pathway to the top. Take the time to enrol on an Online RN to BSN Degree Program. Doing this in your spare time literally adds to your brainpower and can help you develop into other future roles. This type of development can work with your confidence and self-esteem, as well as make you satisfied with your daily life at work.
  • Read More. Different from the above point, literature isn’t just about self-help and learning. Devour a book a month and challenge yourself to new genres. Expanding your horizons can open up so many doors into conversations with new people, and reading is diving into the imagination of someone else. Appreciate it and embrace it while you learn what you love.
  • Talk More. You don’t have to be the most confident person on the planet to learn a language, but learning a language can unlock different cultures and appreciations for other civilisations across the globe. Opening your mind to new experiences with languages is important and it’s a great way to build your confidence talking to new people.
  • Paint More. Look around your home and make a list of all the decorating changes you could make. The inspiration you find from the world around you can be implemented into your home and you can make as many changes as you like, as it’s your space. Let your creativity ooze out around you!
  • Sleep More. One of the biggest things that people forget is to sleep enough. We need at least six hours sleep a night to function well, so teach yourself to sleep and feel your mental health improving.

Self-improvement starts with you and your own desire to push yourself to the max and once you start on that train, you never have to get off!

A Guide To Creating The Perfect Bucket List

(image)

Have you made your bucket list? The process is simple. Basically, it is a list of everything you want to do before you die. Sounds a little morbid, we know, but as we only have one life to live, the bucket list is a great tool to inspire us to live this life to the fullest. One of the most famous examples is this bucket list created by John Goddard. Sadly, he is no longer with us, but he checked off 109 of his 127 goals. Truly incredible. So what about you?

We can’t tell you what to put on your list. It is entirely dependant on your tastes and lifestyle, so you need to take the time and brainstorm, writing down your ideas on a piece of paper or your computer. Admittedly, it’s difficult to know where to start, so consider the following headings.

New experiences – is there anything you have never done before, but would really like to? This may be playing a particular instrument, taking part in a daredevil activity, or driving a fancy sports car around a race track.

Travel – is there anywhere in the world you would like to visit? From sailing the British Virgin Islands to exploring the Australian outback, think about the places you are desperate to see.

Relationships – for many people, getting married often rates highly on a bucket list, as does having a family and making new friends.

Career – we spend most of our time at work, but this can still feature highly on your list. You may want to progress up the career ladder, make more money, or even change your job and work somewhere that has more meaning to you.

Physical endurance – most of us resolve to spend more time keeping fit at the start of the new year, but your list should be more adventurous. You might want to climb a mountain or take part in a marathon, pushing your endurance to the limits.

Don’t be limited to our examples. As we said, you may have ideas of your own, whether they are big or small in scope. However, making the list is the easy part. Many people’s bucket lists go unfulfilled, for one very simple reason. They aren’t achievable. Items such as ‘going to the moon’ or ‘become a famous movie star’ are possible, but not within most people’s reach. You need to make a list of items you intend to do, rather than a fanciful wish list which is mainly fantasy.  Consider the following:

Be realistic – think big by all means, but choose things you actually intend to do, and not a list of daydreams.

Don’t be vague – writing down items such as ‘getting healthier’ is okay, but it is rather vague. Be specific, and include items of relevance, such as exercise ideas or particular foods you want to try.

List your passions – don’t write down anything because you think you ‘should,’ such as reading every play by Shakespeare or watching the entire directorial works of Ingmar Bergman. You want to be excited by the things on your list, and not be put off from doing them.

Don’t worry if your list changes over time. You can add or take away from it as appropriate. Your life will change, which may mean you won’t be able to do certain things, or you may replace items according to your lifestyle as you get older. It doesn’t matter. The key is ensuring you get to achieve as much as you can over your lifetime, living a life where you can be proud to say “I did that” and be glad about it. The rest of your life begins here. What do you want to do? We wish you every success and happiness.

Trying To Be Wonder Woman? Here’s Why You Should Be A Wise Woman Instead

https://www.pexels.com/photo/beach-woman-sunrise-silhouette-40192/

It’s only natural, and you’re definitely not the only one, but as women, we often feel like we have to do it all. Have it all. Experience it all. It’s not just enough to do one thing or be one person. We have to do everything and be everyone. But when you’re trying to do just that, you may find that you’re heading down a slippery slope to burn out. Or, you’ll start to age. Because trying to be Wonder Woman and have it all can make you ill. Instead, you need to start shifting responsibility and ask for help – for the sake of your own sanity. It’s so much smarter that way.

House Chores

So, you’re a mom, an employee, a wife, and also a cleaner. Aren’t you exhausted? Wouldn’t you prefer to drop at least one of those titles? Namely, the cleaner! When you’ve got a full-on schedule, and you’re a busy working mom, you could use house cleaning services to help you breathe a bit easier. And even if you’re house proud and enjoy the cleaning process, just think about the extra time you’ll be able to spend with your kids when you’re not vacuuming and scrubbing. You may even get to take a candle lit bath once or twice too!

Parenting

Okay, so it’s highly unlikely that you’re going to want to actually hang up your mom uniform, but at the same time, you might want to loosen your leash a little. If you’re at home with your kids 24/7, or even if you’re the primary caregiver, you may need to take a break every now and again. You might not want a full-time nanny, but a babysitter twice a week or one of your own parents taking the kids off of your hands and hour here and there could give you a moment or two to get yourself together.

Work

Work is called work for a reason. And even if you love your job or even run your own company, you might want to think about stepping back or balance things out a little. When you’re a mom, your kids will always come first. You may have loved the long hours once, but now’s the time to commit to your family. So offload some of your workload onto others, cut your hours, or even hire an assistant and give yourself a break.

Running Errands

If you constantly feel like you’re running errands, you’re not the only one. Sometimes, they can even take up the entirely of your day. And when you’ve got a lot going on, this is the one thing you could often do without. So do without it. Get someone to run your errands for you instead. You’re probably wondering why you didn’t think of this sooner!

Cooking

And then, of course, there’s also cooking. Now, you may love it (you may also hate it), but with everything else you’ve got going on, trying to come up with incredible, tasty, and healthy meals, shop for them ingredients and then cook these delicious dinners is often too much for the modern family. So, go for a home recipe box instead. You get the ingredients, the recipes, and more often than not, everything is super easy to make too!
