In life, whether you realize it or not, you often live on autopilot. And it’s for this very reason that you may find that you don’t actually realize that you’re doing it. However, this can be quite dangerous. Because there are always going to be those things that prove to be a little risky in life. And these are the things that you ought to be a little more mindful of. But what are they? Let’s take a look.
Lifestyle Choices
First of all, we have your lifestyle choices. It’s easy to feel as if health problems come your way because they’re programmed to. But that may not be the case. Sometimes, the lifestyle choices we make with regards to food, exercise, and toxins, can contribute. So this is something to be more mindful of.
Carelessness
As a step on from, we have carelessness. Again, it’s easy to live on the conveyer belt and not overly think about our actions. Yet when we’re careless and not thinking, we’re at outmost vulnerable and at risk of harm. So it’s important to be alert and have your whits about you.
Everyday Hazards
And finally, there are those things in life that we’ve come to see as normal, yet can be very dangerous indeed. Like driving! There are so many risks and fatalities with driving, as you can see in the infographic below, that it’s important not to forget about this! So you need to be more knowledgeable on the risks and statistics, so that you’re not putting yourself or others at risk.
Entrepreneurs who have decided to quit their jobs to become their own boss tend to share a common story. They grew bored of their workplace.
For young parents, it’s often a matter of flexibility. Some companies fail to offer flexible working hours, which can impact on the relationship of families with young children and babies. As a result, launching a home-based business often feels like the best option to make a living while caring for the kids.
For others, the cumulation of frustrations drives them to quit. Whether it’s a bad boss or an unpleasant colleague, more and more individuals decide to take matters in their own hands and create a safe and welcoming job for themselves.
Regardless of the reason behind your independent career, you are likely to find yourself battling with the challenges of your solitary position. Indeed, when you launch a solo-business, you need to be smart to make it work. You can’t only focus on your expertise. You need to establish the necessary process to run your business as effectively as any other company. Ultimately, your clients expect the same level of professionalism and reliability than they would from bigger firms. While you might be tempted to spread your work across multiple fields, you should stay away from multitasking. Indeed, you’re unlikely to have the necessary skills to manage multiple business processes. Besides, you will soon run out of time if you try to do everything! Instead, you need to find effective alternatives.
The Internet is a dangerous place; you shouldn’t go alone there
If digital plays a role in your business activities – whether you’re using online storage options or interacting with your customers online –, you need to consider the safety of your IT solutions. As surprising as it might sound, many independent entrepreneurs put their business at risk by failing to introduce online safety measures. More often than not, the idea is that hackers and other cyber attacks are more likely to target large corporates. In reality, while big firms can be the victim of a hacking attack, cybercriminals prefer small businesses. Indeed, the absence of adequate protection makes them an easy target. Admittedly, it would be foolish to expect you to become an IT expert on top of your other skills. Therefore, it’s a good idea to entrust your digital protection to a specialist, either by using a software tool that does all the hard work for you or by finding an IT security consultant.
Preparing your taxes is never easy. But when you manage a business, there are many regulations, exceptions, and calculations that you may not be aware of. It’s not uncommon for small businesses to over- or underpay their taxes as a result of miscalculations or lack of knowledge. The worst thing that can happen is to get in trouble with the tax collecting organization, which is never a good thing for a small business. Instead, you should find professional expertise that you can trust in your day-to-day activities. Solo-entrepreneurs on a tight budget tend to prefer using cloud accounting software tools that let them keep track of their budget, invoices, and other financial transactions and duties in real time. Alternatively, if you don’t have any time to dedicate to the matter, you should let an accountant manage your books and your taxes.
Google Analytics is free, but I still don’t get anything from it
Collecting customer data is an essential part of your business growth. For solo-entrepreneurs, the abundance of free and cost-effective tools offer a strategic advantage, whether you need to check your web visits on Google Analytics or your keyword rank. Unfortunately, while data are easy to access, analyzing them a lot more challenging. Countless amateurs waste precious hours reviewing Analytics dashboards without being able to find pertinent information. In fact, the situation is so dire that Google decided to provide free support sessions to entrepreneurs via the Digital Garage initiative. But, the truth is that unless you’ve got time to invest in learning a new skill, one-to-one Analytics sessions are not going to be helpful. Instead, a dedicated consultant who can provide regular data reports and highlight threats and opportunities can be the best solution to encourage you to grow your business.
I’m not too sure about this strategy
Ah, designing your business strategy is not for the faint-hearted. It takes excellent data knowledge and analytical skills, which, if you haven’t invested in a data collection and interpretation solution, is going to be difficult to achieve. Many entrepreneurs fall in the trap of bad strategy approaches, which force them to accommodate conflicting factors as they occur without giving their business a chance to focus on a long-term goal. At its core, your strategy needs to serve as a response to a market challenge. As a result, you need to know and understand the problem to provide the best-suited response. Working closely with a consultant is a preferable solution.
You may be knowledgeable, but you’re only one person
The truth is that even with the best of will, you can’t tackle all the challenges of your business. Running a business is not a one-person job. You need all the support you can get to be able to stick to your professional goals. Indeed, too many new entrepreneurs get trapped in a situation where they spend the majority of their time managing their business instead of using their expertise to deliver income-generating services. There is no point in learning the skills if the cost of your doing the work in-house is too high. That’s where outsourcing can help you to maintain your market position by freeing up valuable time.
I’m ready to hire someone… but how do I do it?
Are you ready to bring a new employee on board? Hiring your first employee is one of the most difficult things you’ll have to do, especially if you lack recruitment experience. However, mistakes can prove devastating for your reputation and your finances. It’s always a good idea to hire a recruitment specialist for the task.
The image of the multitasking and hard-working entrepreneur is, unfortunately, wrong. When you are ready to launch your own business, you need to accept that you can’t manage on your own. Finding consultants to support you and outsourcing specific jobs can help you to build a profitable and sturdy business.

In life, it’s always going to be important for you to like what you do. Working isn’t always easy, but it doesn’t have to be terrible. Nor should you hate it! While we all know that we have to work, you should also recognize that you spend a long time working. So you really owe it to yourself to be able to love what you do and make the most of your working years. Yet, when you’re stuck in a job that you hate, you can’t always do that. And so, it’s in your best interest to find a career that you’re going to love doing, and that you find rewarding. One way to do that is to work for yourself and create your dream career. Let’s take a look at how you can do that.
Choosing What To Do
So the first thing for you to do here, is to decide what you’re going to do. Are you going to take your current job freelance? Are you going to write or consult or create an online product? Think about what skills you have, and what you can do to create a successful business.
Creating A Website
When you’ve worked out what you’re going to do, then you need to set up a website. And it’s crucial that you set something up professional that you can use to showcase what you’re doing and get interest in your business.
Marketing Yourself
The next thing that you need to do here, is make sure that you’re promoting your business and what you do. Because if you want to drum up business, for whatever it is that you do, you need to be marketing. So think about some of the tactics you can use, such as the top 7 advertising strategies, to do this. Make sure that you’re on top of your marketing, if you want to succeed.
Managing Well
But there’s also something that you need to keep in mind – and that’s time management! Because you may find that you either are all over the place and struggle to stay organized, or that you’re just working too much. Neither option is good for you. Instead, you need to be managing your time well. So be sure to create a routine that will help you to be productive.
Setting Goals
And finally, when you work for yourself, it’s so important for you to be able to keep yourself motivated and on track. Because that’s the thing about self-employment – the flexibility can be a bit too good! But when you incentivize yourself, you may feel as if you can work hard, put the time in, and get to where you want to be. Setting goals for what you want to achieve can help you to do exactly that. So be sure to have an idea of what you’re working for, and set some actionable steps in place to do exactly that.

If you have been thinking about owning your own online business for a while, you will need to know that it can be a bumpy road, and you cannot expect results immediately. Instead of just doing what others are doing, you will have to come up with a strategy that is similar to the one you would create if you were to launch a brick-and-mortar business. Below you will find a few tips to increase your chances for success.
Improve Your Skills
There are certain skills entrepreneurs need to succeed. The first one is more like an attitude; self-discipline. You will need to focus on making the most out of your time, so managing your calendar and prioritizing your tasks is going to go a long way. You should make the most out of your existing skills and focus on the development areas; take responsibility for your own personal development.
If you have been working for an employer for a long time, you will need to change your attitude and become an entrepreneur. You will have to take responsibility for your own learning, and this means that you might need to enroll in a college course to get an IT qualification that will make you more effective in creating content or building websites. After all, you will have a limited budget, and every cent you save will help you invest more in your business.
Consider Affiliate Marketing If You Are Just Starting Up
When you are starting a digital business, chances are that you will not have a product or service yet. This doesn’t mean that you cannot make money, though. You can start affiliate marketing on a zero budget, provided that you can generate enough traffic to get conversions. After all, you should first get to know the industry and avoid investing a lot of money into developing your own product or service.
If you would like to succeed in affiliate marketing, it is important that you create an action plan that will help you stay focused on the end goal; profits. You should identify the steps you have to take to make it work for you; not enough traffic will kill your business, and offers that don’t convert will kill your profits. Consider building a sales funnel that will automate most of your marketing processes.
Set a Target for Everything
If you want to manage working from home, you will need to develop a high sense of responsibility and discipline. Track your productivity throughout the day, and make sure that you are able to optimize it through implementing technology and marketing automation. After all, you are not setting up a business to sit in front of the laptop 24/7.
In case you have been itching to get started and build your own business from home, you will need to consider investing in your skills and personal developments, and create a detailed plan of action.

When it comes to your career, you may not find yourself on the right track to begin with. And that’s natural. Because when you leave school, you may feel as if you’re on the right track. You may think you know what you want. But, it’s not always easy for you to think about what kind of work or job or career will suit you for the rest of your life. But then as you get older and you start to find yourself unfulfilled with work. And we all spend a lot of time working, so it’s important for you to make sure that you find a job that’s fulfilling and that you love. Yet when you’ve started out on a certain path, you may feel as if you cannot make a change. But you can.
However, when it comes to making that change, you need to think about what you want to do and how you’re going to make the leap. Anything is possible, but it does take a lot of work. But if you know that you really want to make a better career for yourself or do something that you love, then you will want to commit to this. And the good thing is, it can be easy when you get started and enjoyable! This is how you’re going to do it.
Decide What You Don’t Like
To start with, something that you may feel helps you here, is to decide what is making you unhappy or what you do not like about in your current career. Sometimes, it’s easier to start out by pinpointing what you don’t like and why you’re not happy, so that you can then start to work out what you do.
Understand What You Do
And then, when you’ve worked out what you don’t like, it’s so important for you to then pinpoint what you like and what you want to do career wise. First of all, you’ll want to think about whether or not you have any passions to pursue. Sometimes it’s easier for people to know what they are passionate about, but if you don’t it’s time to start digging out to work out what you love and what you might like to do.
Do Your Research
Then, you need to start to do your research. Get online and take a look at some of the career options that are available to you. Think about what kind of roles there are and what you might like to do. Also have a look at what skills and experience you may need to move into that particular career, because that’s what you need to work on next.
Top Up What You Know
But then also, at this stage you may realize that you need really look to top up your knowledge, skills, or qualifications. Maybe you need to look at doing some studies in the evening to do this? And if so, you might want to look out for well known brand schools or educational establishments to study with? It’s important for you to learn what you need to and get the right qualifications, so make sure that this is a priority.
Get Some Experience
And then, you may need to get some more experience under your belt. Do you need to get an internship or do some work for free? Think about how you can start to make waves in the industry and build up your CV so that you’re ready to make a move.
Network
You may then find that the next thing you need to do here, is to start networking. Because when you’re moving into a new industry, it’s so important for you to think about meeting people and looking for new opportunities. And it might be something that you’re weary of or worried about, but when you start networking, you’ll soon find your feet and get comfortable. And this could be the step that gets you going places.
Make The First Step
And then, you’re going to want to think about making the very first step towards your new career. This can look different to different people. But essentially, you want to make sure that you are getting the ball rolling. For some, that may be sending out applications and going to interviews. Or it may be to build a portfolio and start building up a bit of business for yourself. But you have to get started and make it your dream career a reality.

Working from home, it’s the dream for many. You get to stay in your cosy surroundings with your pet, constant access to the kettle and don’t need to deal with annoying colleagues or a boss breathing down your neck – bliss. But there are many more reasons to consider working from home than just these, here are a few to think about if you’re debating a home based job.
Working eight hours a day is pretty standard, and if someone asks us how many hours a week we work, most of us would answer ‘forty’ without a second thought. However, along with those forty hours a week, think of the amount of time you spend commuting, and getting ready for your job? How much time do you spend sorting out your work bag, ironing your uniform and packing your lunch? It’s time that really adds up and if you sit and tot it up, you might be surprised that you give far more to work than what you realise. Working from home saves you time in a big way. There are no special clothes you need to wear and you don’t have to present yourself in a certain way. For men, this might mean saving time shaving every morning, or for women, applying makeup. There’s no need to pack up a lunch ahead of time, you can simply grab something quick and easy from your kitchen with no fuss. Importantly, there’s no commute. You don’t have to spend time physically getting to and from work which means you have more time in your day to get other things done. When you work from home, unlike getting paid an hourly wage you’ll usually be paid instead for the work that you do. This means that if you focus and get everything done you can have it done in a shorter time and frees up the rest of your day for other things. In most standard employee environments, you might find yourself clock watching where you’ve finished your tasks for the day but can’t get up and leave until the time ticks past 5pm.
Saves you money
Just cutting out a commute can save you money, if you’re driving to work each day, getting the bus or hopping on the train, this can really add up. You can save money on lunches, coffee and all of the other things that add up when you’re out of the house for the day. None of us want to spend money just to go to work and earn money, but unfortunately it can be the case. There are some costs you’ll need to consider, for example in most cases you’ll need to buy a computer and whatever software or equipment you need to earn your money. But this is yours to keep then.
Gives you flexibility
One of the best things about working from home is the flexibility it can bring. Whether you’re contracted to a company, working as a freelancer or running your own business, you’re generally in charge of how your day looks – providing the work gets done. If you run your own business, you can even get yourself into a position where it runs without you but still turns a profit, you can do this by outsourcing the various elements to third-party companies. There are risks to avoid in doing this, but it’s generally a great way to run a business without the expense or effort of setting everything up yourself. Flexibility it good as it enables you to work your job around your life, rather than the other way around. It means you can earn money around other commitments (such as parenting) and enables you to work to your own ‘spikes’ of motivation/ creativity. If you naturally work better in the evening for example, then a standard 9-5 job isn’t going to allow you to make the most of that.
Makes you happier
For all of the above reasons, working from home will make you happier – research proves it. If it’s something you’re able to do, and are fed up of your set working hours at the office then speak to your employer – many are now getting onboard with the benefits. Otherwise, consider setting up your own business, going freelance or finding a company that employs remote workers.

While we aren’t trying to put you off from running your own business; there are plenty of reasons why you should work for yourself instead of ‘working for the man,’ but in terms of your health, there are definite hazards that need to be avoided.
Don’t worry, you won’t have to hurriedly shape up your resumé to return to the safer confines of a 9 to 5 job to preserve your life, but you should consider the following issues.
#1: The sedentary lifestyle. For those business owners working from home, especially when seated in front of a computer screen for many hours during the day, it is worth knowing the health risks of a sedentary lifestyle. These risks include weight gain, high blood pressure, and the increased chances of a stroke and heart disease. You can find out more here. Therefore, make every effort to exercise each day, both before and after work, and take regular breaks to stretch your legs and give your eyes a rest from the computer screen, to offset any issues associated with the sedentary lifestyle.
#2: Feelings of stress. We can all feel stress, but if not dealt with, there are consequences to our health, both physically, with headaches and high blood pressure, and mentally, with issues around depression, anxiety, and burnout. So, should you run a business, it is important to deal with your stressors. If you have strict deadlines to meet, as an example of one common stressor, you might want to hire other staff to help you tackle other work pressures, or outsource certain tasks, so you have time to commit to the project deadline at hand. Within your business life, you should also improve your work-life balance as this can reduce feelings of stress. And forming good habits within your lifestyle will also help, as by eating a healthy diet, and by exercising regularly, you will be more physically and mentally able to deal with the stress in your life.
#3: Neglecting health problems. When working for yourself, you don’t have the sickness benefits that are provided within a usual 9 to 5 job. Therefore, you are more likely to neglect and fight through any health problems instead of taking time off, especially when you are reliant on money coming in. And you might neglect a visit to the doctor or to the pharmacy, especially if you are snowed under with work. By being neglectful in either way, you might suffer the consequences to your health later on. So, here’s our advice. For starters, get into the habit of saving money so you can afford to have time off when you are unwell. Secondly, if you notice any symptoms of ill health, don’t ignore them, hoping they will go away. The sooner you get to see your doctor, the sooner you will be able to deal with any issues and get back to work. And finally, you might also consider registering with a doctor dispensing of medication, so when you are working, you won’t have to disrupt your working day too much because of long queues at the pharmacy.
Running your own business is an excellent idea, but you won’t make a success of it if you fall prey to ill health. Follow our suggestions, then, and not only will you have better health physically and emotionally, but your business should also be healthy on a financial level too!
Take care, and thanks for reading!

Whether you are in a slump or leading a lifestyle that leaves you relatively content, it’s always important to bear in mind that things can get better. There’s always opportunity for improvement and increased levels of happiness in your living! Something else to bear in mind? Positive change rarely makes its way towards you. You have to actively seek it out yourself. So, what kind of steps can you take to actively improve your life? Here are just a few to consider!
Cutting Out Bad Habits
We all have some sort of bad habit – after all, nobody’s perfect. But acknowledging your bad habits and taking steps to remove them from your life can significantly boost your happiness. So, take a moment to mull over some bad habits that you have. They could pertain to your physical health or your mental health. Common bad habits for your physical health that you might want to cut out could include:
Smoking – smoking is highly addictive, so admittedly, it is a pretty difficult habit to kick. But we are all well aware that it is highly detrimental to us, as it can cause cancer, cardiovascular disease, and a whole host of other health issues. Consider making use of alternatives that can be used to cut out smoking and ween you off nicotine, such as nicotine patches, nicotine gum, or vaping.
Excessive Drinking – sure, alcohol may well be legal for adults to consume. But excessive drinking can cause liver damage and can prove addictive. If you feel dependent on alcohol, you might want to consider sober living for men.
There are also plenty of bad habits out there that can have a negative impact on your mental and emotional wellbeing. Some to consider removing from your life could include:
Procrastination – as the old saying goes, procrastination is the thief of time. We tend to procrastinate when we feel anxious about something, but putting off the task at hand only serves to increase anxiety levels in the end.
Perfectionism – being a perfectionist can result in high quality work. But you’ll often find that it unnecessarily places excessive pressure on you. Don’t allow yourself to become distressed by setting unachievable or unrealistic targets!
Spend More Time Doing What You Love
Many of us end up spending most of our time doing things that we feel we have to do. But why not spend more time doing things that you love? This can give you a greater feeling of satisfaction with life. Sometimes it just means turning down plans and events that you feel obligated to attend when your attendance isn’t actually necessary. If you have an interest, chase it. Join a class, attend a club, dedicate your free time to it.
Sure, life might be coming along just fine for you right now. But why settle for mediocrity? “Okay” shouldn’t be enough! Taking active steps to improve your life can see you become a much happier and more rounded individual, placing a smile on your face!
