Staying healthy and energetic as a man seems easy. You play some ball, go to bed early, and stay relaxed as much as you can.
But that’s not how it works in practice. If you’re busy, you often lack the time to take care of your health. You spend all day rushing between various responsibilities, forgetting to take care of yourself.
So what, exactly, can you do to remain healthy as a man? Let’s take a look at some of your options.
Make Sleep The Anchor Of Your Day
First, you’ll want to prioritize sleep. Make it the anchor of your day and organize everything else around it. View it as a non-negotiable: something you do regardless of circumstances.
We won’t bore you with how much sleep you need to get, you probably know that already. However, you should prioritize going to bed at the same time every day, even if sometimes you wake up a little earlier to work on projects or get more done in a few days.
Snack Smart
Next, you’ll want to snack smart (if you have to snack at all). First, keep your snacks healthy, preferably whole foods. Focus on eating more legumes, nuts, seeds, and fruits between meals, reducing your consumption of junk foods like biscuits, cakes and sugary drinks. Also, make sure you snack more in the morning than in the evening. Eating late at night can be highly damaging to health.
Make Your Workouts Quick And Effective
Furthermore, you don’t need to spend hours in the gym. Quick and effective gym sessions can be just as valuable.
The key is to ensure you adequately stress your body. Just a few minutes of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is often all you need.
Supplement With The Right Ingredients
You’ll also want to consider supplementing with the right ingredients if you have a hectic schedule. Creatine, Prostadine and ZMA are all excellent examples of pills that let you quickly support yourself without having to spend ages preparing meals.
Take Breaks For Movement
You’ll also want to take regular breaks for movement. Avoid the temptation to sit in a chair for hours on end without any physical activity.
Research suggests you only need to get up and move once every hour or so to prevent harmful health events from taking place. Blood vessels only require a few seconds of upregulated shearing forces on their internal walls to remain healthy. Go to the bathroom, take a quick walk, or do a few stretches while you work to keep your body healthy and supple.
Eliminate Anything Taking Up Your Time Unnecessarily
You can also try avoiding doing anything that drains your time unnecessarily so that you can focus more on the things that really matter in your life. Having an extra hour or two per day can make all the difference in terms of exercise and meal prep.
Be Grateful
Finally, many of the happiest men are those who spend time every day feeling grateful for what they have. Cultivating this mindset has been shown to boost mood and even improve your health.
